Question about ASUS Eee PC 1000HA Notebook

As the result of blunt trauma to the monitor it is half green and the pixels that should have been there look like they are on the bottom of the screen. Is this fixable or should I replace the monitor? If so: is this something I could do myself?

Given that it first fell and now you have that pattern, it's very likely the screen is broken beyond repair and needs to be replaced. You can get the part at Asus Repair and there is a guide that shows you how to put in the part at Netbook Repair Guide.

What are trauma plates in bullet proof vests?

What are trauma plates?

Trauma plates are devices that can be added to the vest over a localized area (most commonly the mass centre of the torso) to increase the wearer's protection against blunt-trauma injuries. Blunt-trauma injuries are caused by the impact forces of the bullet against the armour, resulting in non-penetrating internal injuries, such as bruises, broken ribs or other injuries to internal organs.

Only the top half of my Philips 170S LCD monitor displays a normal picture. Below this there is a one pixel wide white line and then the bottom half of the monitor has a lined pattern that gradually...

If the monitor is connected to a DVI output on your computer try to connect it to the VGA to see if it's an issue with the input or if the monitor is shot. It sounds like your monitor just crapped out.

My dell monitor has three large green shimering boxes across the bottom of the screen that I can't get to go away. Powered on and off, unplugged, plugged....

Shimmering boxes and/or LCD screen has spots = this is due to Missing /broken Pixels.
- These are pixels that are permanently off and is a natural defect that occurs in LCD technology.
Solution (1) = Do a reset on All Settings. http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/monitors/E173FP/En/controls.htm
Solution (2) = If Solution(1) does not work, you may need to replace your monitor.

Green line going from top to bottom. One pixel width.

Better hope the monitor is still under warranty, you've got dead pixels, and they can't be fixed.
If you just got it, return it. If you didn't buy a new one or get used to it.

Monitor displays breifly then goes to blank screen

If tried the monitor on two other computers with the same result -- definitly your monitor is faulty. Take it to the repair shop. To make double sure, run your computer with another monitor. If everything is fine now; you can blame the monitor.

Scanned image has a line running through it

This could be one faulty sensor pixel or a speck of dirt on the scanner bar. It might be worth opening the scanner and carefully dusting the bar with a camera cleaner aerosol.

Regarding L1515S 15" LCD Monitor Resolution

Hello mallik, The LCD monitor is actually a active matrix of small transistors (3 for each pixel). They have one native resolution, a FIXED one for example you monitor has 1024 x 768 pixels. This results in 786432 pixels displayed on the screen. Because each pixel is controlled by 3 transistors there will be 2359296 transistors controlling your entire screen. This is a fix number. You can't raise the resolution to 1280 x 1024 because this will require as you can see now... a lot more transistors on the same surface. All you can do is to lower the resolution, in this case 4 pixels (12 transistors) form a larger pixel acording to that lower resolution. The image can look blurry in these situations. THe bottom ideea is that a LCD pannel (more corectly said, TFT (thin transistor film) pannel, has one optimum resolution, it's native one. The higher the better, when choosing one to buy, but you can't raise the resolution over that. You can just lower it. It works different then the normal conventional CRT monitors. Sorry for my bad english as I live in a non english-speaking country. Also if you have anymore questions please post a comment.
