Re: have e machineT2742 intell board

From my extensive experience trial and error can sometimes be the best solution here, never had any shorts with this solutution. plug the power supply onto the mboard then with a screw driver touch together two pins at a time on themboard following a the pins on the panel horizontally, when you touch together the right two pins your mboard will power-up then insert the on-off plug on those two pins 99.9% of the time they are plugged facing inwards (the writing on the plug faces towards the major part of the mboard) after that you can insert the led plugs by the same consept of trial and error. You must plug your harddriver to your board to find the hdd led because then it will flicker when found the power led will remain on constantly. with the resert button the 99.9% of the time the pins are directly below, above or adjacent to the power-on pins. when it comes to the usb pins check-
. . . . .
. . . .
they are in this order above if the spare pin is on the right. starting from left to right, starting with the top row insert - red - white - green - black. the same works for the bottom row.

Installed mother to new tower case and pwr sw | hd led | reset | power led connecting to my board is the Intel dq67sw 155 matx motherboard need accurate dir to connect these please help

info found at
Front Panel Header Pin info for DQ67SW. They should be color coded too. 1 Hard disk LED + orange
2 Power LED+ green
3 Hard disk LED - orange
4 Power LED- green 5 Reset Switch - blue
6 Power switch + red
7 Reset switch + blue 8 Power switch - red
9 Power Out (do not use)
10 No pin
NOTE When connecting individual wires from your chassis front panel to the front panel header, be sure to observe the connection polarity. Positive wires are usually solid color and negative wires are usually white or striped.
There is also an alternative pin header if you have a power wire that uses a 3 pin connector instead of a 2 pin connector. It is the 3 pins just past pin 9, and it should be missing the pin in the middle of the 3 pin block. The pin closest to pin 9 is the power led + and the furthest from pin 9 is the power led -.
if you need clarification, check out page 50 of the manual posted above at

Hi, im trying to connect motherboard intel D865GVHZ front panel to connection J9H3, i need a diagram for it. Thank you for your help

I may be confused with your problem you posted mar13974.
I thought Jumper J9H3 was for the Front Chassis Fan.
By your post, it leads me to believe you want the pin assignments for the Front Panel header on the mobo.

At any rate let's go to Intel Product Support, and the download page for the motherboard manual, for the Intel D865GVHZ desktop mobo,

Click on the blue file name - D865GVHZ_ProductGuide01_English.pdf

After you click you may not see anything happening for up to 30 seconds. The file is downloading in the background.
(Took 16 seconds for me just now with a medium speed DSL connection)

Page 33 shows the location of the Front Panel header on the motherboard.
Page 34 details the pin assignments

Page 36 shows the Front Chassis Fan header location (Chassis front fan)
3-pin header, doesn't state the pin assignments.
With a 3-wire fan cable,
A) 1 wire is the Power wire. Generally Red
B) 1 wire is the Ground wire. Generally Black
C) 1 wire is the speed sensor wire. Reads how fast the fan is spinning in Revolutions Per Minute
(RPM) Generally Blue, but it's up to the individual manufacturer.

If the above isn't what you had in mind, please state in a Comment.

I have a d845gvfn intel motherboard. wires at bottom beneith the battery were pulled out...wich one goes where?

I'll help you with this issue but it is advised you download the manual for the Intel D845GVFN MB. The manual is in pdf format. You'll need Adobe reader to view the manual. Adobe reader is free. Open the link for Adobe, download and install it;
Provided next is the manual link from Intel;
See page 11, Item O. See page 12 for description. (Auxiliary front panel power LED connector). If you setup the Front Panel Header as shown on page 31 item C. You shouldn't need to connect item D, Alternate power LED. If you're board does not power up than do connect item D.
Pin one should be positive and pin two should be negative. The wire colors define + and -. Wire colors do vary from case to case. Normally colors as red, blue and green are found to be positive. The color white and black are common for ground -. Check item C. You'll find a common color for each connection. This common color is ground.
On the odds if after you connect item D fails you can switch off the PS and switch the connectors. Item D and C use 5volt DC. A few seconds in the wrong position will not damage the motherboard.

Good luck

I can not find the matching pinsforthepwsw hdd led

Open the Intel link provided;
Create a folder on your desktop and name it, Intel D815EEA
Download the file named, "" in to your Intel folder. The *.zip file must be uncompressed. You can download and install a 45 day free trial program called WinZip. Download WinZip from here; the program named Winrar will also uncompress the file;
Once the either program has been installed open the Intel folder. Right click once on the file *.zip and from the pop-up window and click, Extract Here. You will need Adobe reader to view the PDF file. Adobe is free;
Open the PDF folder. Open the "A1696401.pdf" file. This is the manual for your D815EEA board.
Open to page 69 motherboard layout. Item "C". Find pin 1. You can zoom in with Adobe by clicking the + sign in the tool bar. Than go to, Table 48. Section page 71 in Adobe.
Front Panel Connector. Example:
Pin 1 is power for the HD_PWR = Hard disk drive, Power LED. Pin 2 is ground for the HD_PWR. ECT...
Case wire colors vary. Normally the solid colors red, green, blue and green are positive. Except black which is usually ground for the internal speaker.
The wire color solid white is usually - negative. So each pair will have a common wire color used for negative.

Hope you find this helpful.

Front pannel connection on the mother board d815eea2 motherboard

Hi Billy, please use the manual to help guide you. Turn to page 33. If you no longer have the user manual please download it from this link:
You will need adobe reader to view the manual. You can down load adobe for free at this link:
Or directly from Adobe.

On pg. 3 is a picture of the motherboard's front panel pin connections. Item "C". (Front Panel pin to case LED's).
Armed with this information (Pictures), you can plainly see the pin numbers.
Page 4 shows you which is positive + & which is negative - pins.
Do not be fooled by the manual name. Intel often groups like motherboards into one manual. This manual does cover Intel's D865GV & D865GVHV motherboard. The second toughest thing to do is find which case wires or positive & which are negative.
This changes from case to case. Look at all your front panel wires. Most common ground is white in color. Positive wires are colored except internal case's speaker 2 wire. Black is negative.

Good luck Billy!
Hope you find this helpful.

E machine T2742

Well I can tell you that the white wires are negative. The colored wires are positive. Do you still have your manual? Never mind that. There is not a description reference to show you how & where the connectors connect to the board. I would say the two "Black & white", connect the case speaker, most Pc's the negative would face to your right looking in at the board. "Blue & white" would be the reset switch & red & white most likely is the "Power Led". Good luck.
