SRL551DP, fridge stops, display on door flashing.

Fridge works for a few hours then the display on door starts flashing and the fridge stops cooling and wont start up until its turned off/on at the wall.
I have tried leaving it off for a few days, doesnt help. is there a 24 hour clock in there and where is it.
Thanks for your help.

ok thanx. I have taken the back cover off and cleaned the colis, turned on the fridge, the fan starts up and the comp. do i wait till it faults again in 12 hours and see if the fan is working?

if not do i then check for voltage on the little plug ( its got 240v on the red at the mo.)

Or should i just replace the cap/condenser under the fan?

    Thanks for your help!

ok whats happening is the comp is cutting out as it should ( i think ) but the display on the door states that its 3 in the fridge and it got as low as -17 in the freezer but it was not -17 it was warmer than the fridge and the water in the ice tray was not even frozen. is this then a prob with the therm for the freezer, if so where is it located/ any tips for doing the job. can you help me please. Thanks.

Thanks for your help so far. I have replaced the sensor behind the dial and also the one in the frezzer behind the light. turned on the refer and it cooled down to what i set it at 4 for thr refer and -15 for the frezzer. once it got there the comp turned off. i waited an hour and still no comp kicked in, so i opened the doors for a min and still no comp. turned off at the wall/ back on again and the comp kicked into life-- any clues?

ok i have replaced both sensors the 1 behind the dial, and the one in the frezzer ( behind the light ) and i also got a new main pc board ( the big one on top ) fridge ran for 12 hours then the display starts flashing, just the frezzer -minus 14 started followed by the 3 for the fridge. is this normal, how long does it do its heating thing for? so in short if tmrw when i wake up and the frezzer is full of water --nothing i have done has helped. any one out there that can help???

sounds the same problem.changed probes in fridge compartment and main pc board.coils ice up and stops cooling and display flashes

  • lardn Apr 19, 2008

    same problem on a SR-S20NTC

  • buzzme82 Oct 13, 2008

    Exactly the same problem.

Fridge door was left ajar overnight and everything was room temp in the fridge compartment with the freezer still retaining some coldness.

Turned off at wall, for either 1 min or 100 minutes (doesnt make a difference) and when its powered on again, it will reset the display to the current temp and proceed to cool it down, both fridge and freezer.

    It seems once the required temp is reached, the fridge turns off, as it should, but herein lies the problem;

    - It wont start back up again by itself. Must be manually turned off then on again at the wall to get it cooling again.

Turn power on and cools down to temp, then it will stop cooling and front lights start flashing. what a waste of money

Time to call a service tech before you end up paying as much for parts as you would a new refer.

You most likely have a problem in the freezing/cooling circuit. Check your condenser, evaporator fans to see if they are running okay. Most likely it may be the condenser fan.

You will find the condenser fan in back under the back panel. Remove it and check that is is running okay. You might want to clean the coils while you are down there.

The thermostat is in the refer. You will find it right behind the dial. There is a probe that comes out the end of it. It is likely that it is giving you the problem.

Viking fridge top and bottom model#vcbb536rss is beeping sporadically, the display screen is flashing, what is wrong with that? what part we need to check?

high low voltage board were likely not needed
board registers high temp and after a few days of constant high temp alarm will restart
by replacing low volt board all you did is start with empty register also when replacing low volt board they have to be programed for your model
sounds like you need service for your cooling issue

Door wasnt closed properly over the weekend fridge starting to cool, no ice, freezer works display reads Er-1F

The door being open probably caused ice to build up on the evaporator, not allowing air to flow properly between freezer compartment and refrigerator, unplug the unit for a few hours and place a fan aimed at the freezer compartment to help it defrost then plug unit back in should be fine.

Control panel on front stops working, only freezer lights are lit, freezer and fridge stop cooling.

when half of the display goes out, it is giving you an error code telling you what is wrong with the fridge.Unplugging it simply resets the computer until the error comes back typically within a few hours.

without knowing what is lit up, it is difficult to help you so I would recommend putting the error code "which bars are lit up" in a comment so we can diagnose further

Both Lights flashing and fridge not getting cold

I turned the fridge and freezer off using the circular dials, I then turned the unit off at the mains. Left it for a few minutes and then turned the power back on. I then turned the circular dials to "max" and then depressed the super cool and super freeze buttons to turn this facility on. This time they came on normally (not flashing) and no alarm sounded. The fridge and freezer then started to get cold. Once the unit had been running for several hours I then turned the dials to the 3/4 mark and depressed the super cool and super freeze buttons again to turn them off. Over night the fridge and the freezer appear to be working properly so I hope that my problem is solved. Maybe the unit just needed to "settle" before being switched on?
