Question about SanDisk Sansa m240 MP3 Player

Looking for a solution for my Sansa m240 MP3 Player

When i power up my MP3 player it says not enough space for music DB. Please free 4MB.

Hmm weird problem, same error code youre having.

Why dont you try to reformat your player using PC. That may loose your current songs but i think that is the only thing you have to do.

Take cautions when connecting and unplugging to the PC that may cause errors and data corruptions.

try formatting the device..that must solve the problem...if it doesnt,use sansa updater to update its firmware

When connected to your computer, go to your My Computer folder, and right click on your Mp3 player. You should see "Format Device". This wipes the entire thing. All music will be gone, but it might reset it.

try formatting your device then try to put mp3 files on it. check if it works. on your my computer right click you mp3 device ( it is usually a removable storage) then select format.

The Music DB refers to the Music Database, or the Artist, Album, and Song info.

The error means your device is too full. It needs some free space on the device to create this information.

Connect your device to the PC and manually delete some files from it in My Computer>Device Name (m240)>MUSIC Folder.

It needs 6MB of free space, so you may need to delete several songs.

Disconnect the device from the PC, it should restart and you should be ok. If the message continues, keep deleting files until its gone,

My mp3 wont work


Use these instructions only if you don't care losing the stored information. Connect it to your computer. Click on "My computer" then click on right button on your mouse and select Format. This should solve it. Please rate this. Thanks, D.

Hi I have just bought a Sandisk Sansa M250, we loaded som music on it and it lasted 2 hours, then it the message came "Not enough space for music DB please free 8 MB". I couldnt even go in to the menu. I contakted Sandisk.com and 24 hours after they came up with an answer. If it's currently frozen, hold down the power button for 20 seconds in order to soft reset it. Let's try to format the player (THIS WILL ERASE ALL FILES FROM THE PLAYER). Plug it into your computer, then open My Computer, right-click the drive associated with the player, and choose Format. It may give you a choice of file system, if so, choose FAT (it may only let you choose FAT32, which is fine). Now click on Start and it should format the player. If not already done, please also update the firmware from this link: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1368 The 20 seconds on the power button didnt work, but the formation did.
