Question about Maytag Atlantis MDE6400AY Electric Dryer
It works fine except it won't shut off by the timer. I have already replaced the control device on top of the machine.
Had the same problem. Replaced the timer and it shorted out the dryness sensor. After 6 visits from the repair man, Maytag said they had put the wrong timers in the boxes. At one time I had 14 timers at my house and they were all wrong. Maytag sent another repair man and he couldn't fix it either.

Timeout...I'm guessing you mean that the timer on off doesn't turn anything off. If this is a mechanical timer unit, the contacts are welded. If electronic, your relay is probably welded. Replace the item. If you do go inside, unplug the unit, and then find the relay or contact set and see if they are actually welded. Most units have a diagram on the back. Follow it through with a multitester.
