Maytag atlantis gas dryer

It works fine except it won't shut off by the timer. I have already replaced the control device on top of the machine.

My dryer never stops running, even when the door is opened. I have to turn the knob to an 'off' position to get it to turn off. I have to use an egg time in case I forget about the dryer running! It would run forever if I let it. We replace the timer unit but I think my husband shorted out something b/c I think that was the part that would have fixed it. Don't want to spend the $100 again if that's not the part needed. Also, the light is only on when the dryer is running. It's not on when you open the door, but it used to come on when the door was opened.

We have the same problem with the Atlantis...The dryer timer is not working and therefore will not shut off unless we turn it off. Seems awefully dangerous! Has Maytag addressed this issue?? Recall of the faulty part?

Had the same problem. Replaced the timer and it shorted out the dryness sensor. After 6 visits from the repair man, Maytag said they had put the wrong timers in the boxes. At one time I had 14 timers at my house and they were all wrong. Maytag sent another repair man and he couldn't fix it either.

Timeout...I'm guessing you mean that the timer on off doesn't turn anything off. If this is a mechanical timer unit, the contacts are welded. If electronic, your relay is probably welded. Replace the item. If you do go inside, unplug the unit, and then find the relay or contact set and see if they are actually welded. Most units have a diagram on the back. Follow it through with a multitester.

I have a kenmore washer model no 110.22442100, it fills and adgetates and then stops and shuts off, why is it doing this, I have already replaced the timer.

Possible that the control is a suspect as the program is not working to the memory. It can be due to a faulty processor or back up memory to the processor. this means the controller is faulty.

Whirlpool Ultimate Care II gas dryer won't turn off.

Dryer Won't Stop Running
  • Ultimate Car II Dryers are fitted with a mechanical timer that sends an impulse to the control circuit board to stop running once the set amount of drying time has elapsed. This is because, should an electronic timer fail, this would necessitate the replacement of the entire circuit board. Confirm that the mechanical timer is indeed broken by opening the dryer's door. If the dryer stops, the circuit board is working fine and is not the problem. Simply slide off the protective faceplate of the dryer, unscrew the control board beneath, and flip it over. Connected to the back of the timer's knob should be a small round device with two wires running to the circuit board within the body of the dryer. Unscrew this device from the back of the knob and disconnect the wires. A replacement timer costs a few dollars and should screw into place without trouble. Reconnect the wires and put the dryer back together. It should work fine now.

We pulled our stacked washer out from the wall to service the cold water hose filter on the back of the unit. when we pushed it back into it's location the washer won't start, won't fill...

I know you don't want to hear this, but either you did something to the hose filter or you didn't get it plugged back in correctly.

If you banged the water inlet valve in moving it back, it might be damaged.

Suggest you unplug everything and start over.

I have a Maytag (FAV6800AWW) top load washer. The cold water won't shut off except at the valve. The cycle will run properly with hot water but if you have the cold on it just runs until it...

the water valve is bad in the rear area inside the machine, its controlled by electrical solenoids and the valve is stuck open even with the unit shut off, replace the valve combo hot and cold as these dont repair

Water won't shut off

check the timer on the machine. it could be a mechanical or electronic timer. the timer's output goes to a water solenoid valve. could be the solenoid itself is faulty, but it all seems to point towards the timer - because you say it works fine normally. Is this a bunn coffee maker?
