Question about SanDisk Sansa e200 MP3 Player

Will not stay in recovery mode

I have a E250 Ver. 1.0. When I try to put it in recovery mode it says to insert the usb cable when I do it says upgrade finished then restarts. The Problem is that I didn't load anything on it nor did the 16mb drive show up for me to even put anything on it. I can hold the rec button each time it restarts and it continues to do the same thing. I even tried a completely different cable and when I put the daughterboard into another player it works fine. This leads me to believe the problem is in the main board somewhere. Any Suggestions?

Use the volume + method:

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.

How do i switch to recovery mode


put it in lock mode and hold the record button.

Just says connected until the battery dies.


first off if you can turn the player off
try this...

1 put on hold and hold record button while u turn on (your sansa is now in recovery mode)
2 connect your sansa to your comp via usb cable a box should show up saying the firmware version
3 close the window and disconnect your sansa (it will restart)

if that doesnt fix your problem try this...

if you can actually connect your sansa to the comp. and see it in explorer try this....

1 connect your sansa to comp via usb cable
2 right click start on windows desktop go to explore
3 scroll down to your sansa's drive rifght click it go to properties
4 go to tools tab and click "check now" under error checking will take awhile and will erase your memory on the sansa but it will probably work again

It keeps saying that its refresing database and is not loading

Sansa e250 formatting and memory troubles


you should try putting into recovery mode. to do this, connect it to your computer, then push the hold button down so the orange is showing. Next you want to hold down the record button on the side of your mp3 player, now while holding that down also press and hold the power button. in a few seconds it should go to recovery mode. if you need more information, heres a link to the forums. http://forums.sandisk.com/sansa/board?board.id=e200

E270r Refresh Database error w/ version details error


Try putting the player into "msc" usb mode. "mtp" usually does that, but i've never hear of it being on the comp.

take out the batteries.when you are finished hold the #2 button while you put your batteries in and when you are finished it will say upgrade complete and then press any button.

Did he connect the player to the speakers through the dock or through an external wire? Did you format through WMP or explorer? Honestly, I think it's bricked. To enter Recovery Mode: Put the hold switch on so you see orange, hold down the record button and turn the player on. Keep holding the record button until you see: Welcome to Recovery Mode Please connect USB cable

Computer won't read mp3 player

What do i do in recovery mode?


to fix this problem go on ur sandisk go to settings and go to the bottom of the list where it will say usb mode clic on that and try both of them only one of the will work.

Sansa e200 shows refresh database fail


Try emailing SanDisk technical support team at: support@sandisk.com And ask them for the Recovery Mode firmware upgrade (Also send them the problem the way you posted it here). They should send you a link to some firmware upgrade file. You could also try calling them at: 1-866-726-3475 but an email should be sufficient because, from what I remember, it is just a link to file that you need to download. I hope that helps...
