If you are planning to get a sound device hardware like a PCI card you can choose CMI8738 audio PCI Audio Device may suffice your needs.

If built in on your motherboard use your motherboard installer or manually go to sound device folder to install the driver.

If you don't have the motherboard installer, try its manufacturer's site then choose the exact model number and version, to get the right driver.

Hello dj_itachi7
Go first to microsoft's to download SP3 for Win XP .
After installation is completed , go to the device manager and identify the sound controller . Try a driver update from there or go to the manufacturer's site to download the driver .
Best regards ,

How do i format my computer?

Open "My Computer".
Click with the SECOND (usually the RIGHT) mouse-button on the icon for the 'C:' drive.
Choose 'Format'.

The "format" process will write blocks of data, filled with "zero" bytes, over 100% of your disk-drive.

When the process completes, you'll have to re-install Windows onto this newly "wiped" disk.

After PC format, you now need to put all the required pc drivers like modem driver, sound driver, LAN driver, WAN Driver, Camera Driver and other driver software. Maybe you miss this software. Check your device manager if you pc is not reading the sound card hardware because you have not install the sound card driver to activate the sound card.

How to format my compaq pressario cq40 604tx laptop with xp

hi

Boot from your XP install CD and select the option to format the C:
drive. If you don't have an install CD, use the "System Restore" CD or
DVD that came with your system. These restore your system to factory
settings. There're still other ways to format your C: drive, but
without either an install CD or restore one, you'll end up with an
unusable system after formatting the C: drive.
If you use the XP install CD, you'll need to be SURE you have all the
drivers for things like your DVD/CD drive, NIC, video, audio, modem, etc.

"what was the difference between windows xp service pack 2 and 3???" tnx im ann from philippines

SP3 contains all the patches that are furnished after SP2 was released. After updating with SP3, you will notice a few delicate changes:

Your Networking
gets a new "Windows Media Connection", which lets you network additional media sharing hardware's.

WPA2 -- the extra-strong WirelessProtectionAlgorithm format is now supported.

CredSSP service provider for extra security.

Router "Black hole" detection -- Windows now turns on this feature by default.

SP3 is not that big of an fix up, but it is a big improvement in terms of security. It is advocated that you update if you want to have the best security.
