I have the manual for the motherboard, but I can't find an auto feature under HD audio.

I can get to the bios settings for my audio, but Windows does not see an audio device at all. I don't have the original driver disk for the mobo.

Finally got it. UAA Bus driver was disabled in Device Manager. After turning it back on it was a simple task of downloading the Asus audio driver. Thanks alot.

In BIOS Setup:

1.Use the Right Arrow key to move the highlight to Advanced. Press the Enter key.

2.In the Advanced menu, use the Down Arrow key to highlight -
High Definition Audio.
Press the Enter key.

3.Now in the submenu, use the appropriate Side Arrow key, [ Left or Right]. and highlight - Auto

4.Press the F10 key. Now press the y key.

(It looks like you should use a capital Y, but Don't! It is a capital Y for clarity)
5.Now press the Enter key.

If you Do Not press the F10 key, y key, and the Enter key, it will be like you have done Nothing at all! This is because you haven't. You have to press the three keys stated in order to Save Changes.

Your computer will reboot (Restart), after you press the Enter key above.

This is Asus Support and the Downloads page,

1.Go to the upper right of the page to the heading - Download. Left-click in the box with - Input Model to Search. Keep the mouse cursor in the box. Type A8V-VM in the box.

    2. Go to the Select Category box underneath it, and click on the blue down arrow to the right of the box.
In the drop down menu click on - All

3.Now go below the box, and click on - Search Info

4.On the next page you will see A8V-VM SE listed in the middle. Click on it.

5.You will now see a small window come up, that has Select OS in a box. Click on the blue down arrow to the right of the box. In the drop down menu, choose the Operating System you're using.
I chose WinXP for an example. Now click on Search. (Rectangular 'button')

6.Click on the + sign to the left of Audio.
This shows the Realtek Audio Driver V5.10.0.5211 for Windows 2000/XP/XP 64bit. (WHQL)

7.Go below and click on the Global icon. (It's Green)

8.Type in the characters for the security box. (If you see English letters, Be Sure to make them in Capital letters!) Click on Submit.

9.A small pop-up window will appear. Be sure there is a Green dot in the circle to the left of -
Save File. If not, click on the empty circle to the left of Save File. Write down the name of the file. Makes it much easier to find later. Now go below, and click on OK.

10.If you do not have your downloads set to go to your My Documents folder, (Start>My Documents), this file will go to your desktop screen.

11.In either place when you find it, Double-click right on it. This is a ZIP file. After you double-click on the file name, your Un-zip program will open. Go up to the top left corner, and click on Extract All Files.
Follow the simple instructions. (Click on Next, Next, and Finish)

You may be asked to restart your computer. If not, do so anyway. (Start>Turn Off Computer>Restart)

Would you please get me a picture of the back of the mother board where the keyboard and other connectors are? We'll go from there.

Mic issues

A8V-VM SE FRONT PANEL AUDIO does not work. The back panel audio speaker port works ok but not the MIC port. I have built over 100 pcs with different motherboards & procesors including several other Asus MoBo both Intel and AMD types. BIOS flas did not help. Asus tech support /knowledge base is useless to find answers.
If anyone has had this problem and solved it , please pot your answer.
