Question about Computers & Internet
Hi, I had my NEC Versa E6300 direct from NEC, upgraded to 2GB ram, I believe it is compatible. Its on vista 32bit.
I've been experiencing a lot of wireless problem with this E6300, while my dell netbook does not have at all. I checked, it is using Realtek's RTL8187B Network Adaptor (module).
I am not sure if its Realtek problem or NEC's implementation prblm. Usually the problem happens after more than 20-30mins of operation upon the laptop connected to my router. The NEC will display Error with wireless connection -- stating it cannot connect to the Internet (LAN is ok, WAN is not ok -- NEC is connected to Router but cant detect Internet )
Initially I tot it might be the router prob, but its not since my Dell netbook still able to surf and connected.
And worst thing is, when I tried repairing the connection, it does not work. And worst thing is, the system seems to hang trying to reconnect to Internet. This include while trying to shut down the laptop. It will not shut down forever. I have to manually shut it down, and later do system restore to make sure all drivers are safe.
Anyone has this same problem? I seriously believe there is a compatibility issue between this Realtek Network Adapter to the NEC. I cant find any new drivers for this adapter from NEC too. Help
It does sound like it could be a driver issue or the card itself. You will never get anyone to admit they are to blame. Realteks make good stuff and seem quite reliable. My guess would be the driver as your symptoms are what I have seen before on other brands with driver issues. If its under warranty scream and holler (nicely) and see if they will take it back to "fix" it. Generally they can't and you can get it replaced or refunded. If not you can try an earlier driver as well as keeping an eye out for new ones. Sometimes they fix something minor and cause something major like this. If no driver fixes then you can try replacing the wifi card. See what other brands came with your machine such as an Athera.
Fairly cheap to find on places like ebay and installs much like a ram module. No easy fix for this one I'm afraid.
