The best could be the most expensive one that will fit. 400 watts is plenty for all.

So you changed everything except 1 thing, power supply. Try another power supply or power suply cord.
If it doesn't work, try another graphic card, maybe there is some shor circuit.

Sounds like you are overtaking the power supply with the upgraded video card. 250 Watt is pretty much an entry level PWS, with most systems and upgraded Video I suggest a 400 watt PWS or higher

My PSU which has just died is rated at 305watts - is this enough?

The reason most people say that it is under-rated is that when you plug a usb device in the computer that device uses juice, especially external drives. Shop for a good brand name PSU, they will note in their specs that they have quiet settings and are very efficient at what they do. You get what you pay for, also make sure that if your 5100 power supply has an on/off switch on it, some aftermarket PSUs do not have this switch.

Need more Watts to run Larger Graphics card & Exhaust Fan

1. Visit this website.
2. In the search field type in: PC Power & Cooling.
3. Press Go.
4. On the left under the, "Manufacturer" menu select, "PC Power & Cooling."
5. Find a Power-supply-unit which will work for you.

One hint, try to find a PSU that has a 20+4 main connector. That way if your motherboard has a 20 pin connector your PSU will be compatible. I highly recommend you buy a non-modular PSU, they are more reliable.

The reason I am having you look at PC Power & Cooling products is because they make the most efficient and reliable single-rail PSUs on the market today. Yes, they're more expensive. However I would rather buy something more expensive than blow up my system with a cheap PSU which will only hold out about a year.

Let me know if I can help you further. (If this solved your problem, please rate the solution.)

I have a Gateway 510xl and would like to upgrade the power supply

Changing out power supplies is not that difficult task. Upgrading to a 550 Watt power supply would be a good idea because it will give you more power than you need at the moment. You can google the power supply with the word problems with it and see what comes up. The main thing to be sure of when selecting a new power supply is to make sure that you get one with the appropriate connectors for your hard drive, motherboard and processor. For example if you have a SATA Hard drive then you will need a PSU that has SATA power connectors. Most newer power supplies (PSU) have these. The box should list what connectors it has.

Psu

200 watt max. 19v DC power brick with a 4 pin plug, with two positive and two ground pins. The PSU is unique to the E-bot. I have not been able to find an exact match anywhere. Foxconn no longer sells the PSUs and will not help with tech support in any way. The PSU was originally produced by Fortron Source Power (FSP). When mine went bad, I had to buy a similar looking unit (but with only a 150 watt max rating), then I had to rewire the output cord, because the 4 pin plug had the positives and negatives switched around.

If you need a new power brick for the Ebot, I seriously hope you have the old original unit still. If you do, you can then simply buy any 19V laptop power brick that has acceptable power output (at least 120 watt) and then replace the power output cord with the original one from the Ebot's power supply (some soldering required). It's really the only way to replace the unit.

Upgrading power supply

The next time you get a PSU. Tell them what you have. Apparently you got one that is not compatible with your compaq. The power (500 wattage) will work with your MB.
Get an OEM PSU from Compaq(HP).
