Well you don't really need a DVD drive, all you need to do is save the driver in a USB stick, then install it in your computer....

but is you still decide to install on the laptop, that should not be a problem at all

Hplaserjet M1005 software cd is not installing in windows7 home basic laptop

Try downloading the drivers/software from HP website as long as the operating system is supported by HP for your printer model, if it's not then you may have to try and find a third party driver which may prove very difficult, if windows 7 did not detect & install the driver automatically then it may be a case of upgrading the printer depending on how old it is.
I have just tried a check on availability and windows 7 32/64 bit are supported.
As a second point you could try other cd/dvd to make sure DVD drive is working ok.

How to connect mfc-5840cn printer with laptop

Not sure if your answer is correct, As I said Windows update thought it was downloading the correct driver and it didn't work correctly. I don;t want to say your link isn't helpfull, But I followed another suggestion and installed the Windows Vista Suite for the Brother MFC-5840CN all in one.and it not only fixed the problem it also installed all the multifunction drivers and software. So I am good for now. Thank you for responding to my delema. In case someone else needs it, Here it is.

I have a HP 6730s. I tried install Windows 7. But the DVD isn't working, cannot boot from the disk.Should I do BIOS updade, how? Please help me! Thanks.

If the dvd isn't working at all then this isn't a BIOS problem, it's hardware - the dvd unit has failed. You must replace it - a repair shop will ask you about $100 for the new unit and the labor.

How do i connect my laptop to my printer so i can print things of my laptop

I will try to guess that you want your printer connected to your laptop as wireless.
-first you need to prepare all the things needed and make sure that you connected/installed the cartridges and you have located the port where your power cable needs to plug-in.
-2nd I hope your laptop does have an optical drive (CD/DVD drive).
-on the package of your printer there should be a drivers disk.
-you need to enter the drivers disk on the optical drive then just let it run.
-when you have the GUI of the driver there is an option to install everything.
-make sure that you did not connect your USB cable to the laptop if theres any.
-when running the driver it will come to a point where it will ask you to connect the printer (USB, Network, Wireless)
-if you have the USB cable, use that cable first to connect after you turn on the printer.
-later after the installation was completed, run the disk again then there should be an option to convert the connection from wired to wireless.
-if you dont have the USB cable comeback to me then I will give the the steps to connect it using wireless connection.

I need to know how to remove a DVD drive for a HP lap top.

If your HP Pavilion DV6000 series laptop computer has a bad DVD drive, use the following steps to replace the drive

Purchase a new DVD drive to replace the old HP drive. You can use any slim DVD drive with a 50-pin ATAPI IDE Interface Connector. You will probably want a DVD burner since the original drive was capable of burning DVDs. The drive I used to replace the HP drive is a LG Black IDE Super-multi Slim Notebook DVD Rewriter - OEM version.

Unplug the power cord from your HP laptop. Remove the laptop battery from the back of the computer. This will eliminate the chance of power damage to your computer

Ground yourself by touching a metal object or touch your screwdriver on the ground while touching part of the metal. Unscrew the DVD drive screw circled in the Step 2 photo. Using a small Phillips head screwdriver turn the screw counter-clockwise until it is completely loosened. You may need to flip the computer over to get the screw to fall out. Put the screw in a safe location for later.

Put a small pointed tip object (a paper clip will also work) into the drive release hole on the face of the DVD drive. Use the hole to pull the drive out from the laptop body.

Remove the mounting bracket from the old DVD drive. There are two small Phillips head screws that need to be removed by turning them counterclockwise. Match the bracket up with the holes on the side opposite of the connection port. Using the two screws you just removed, secure the mounting bracket to the new DVD drive by tightening them in the clockwise direction.
Remove the original HP DVD drive face plate from the old drive. It can be removed by working it back and forth to loosen the faceplate. Once it is loose you should be able to pull the faceplate off.

Do the same for the new drive. Once the DVD faceplate is off, match the tabs of the original HP faceplate up and press in until it clicks into place

The new drive is now ready to install into the HP DV6000 series laptop. There is no need to hook up IDE cables and power cables. The new drive can simply be slid into the HP laptop.

Find the screw from Step 3. Make sure the DVD drive is pressed in all the way. Install the small Phillips head screw in the back of the laptop and tighten by turning clockwise.

HP CD/DVD optical drive is not recognized

I found that there was a firmware conflict caused by the installation of iTUNES. I uninstalled and cleared the upper and lower filters in the registry and the internal DVD-Rom is recognized. First I cleared the registry and the drive was recognized after a hard boot. So Far no twitches. Knock on wood.

Problem in cd-dvd drive of hp laptop

This is not a driver problem. It is almost certainly a problem with yourdvd/cd player. If it is reading dvd's, then it means that the driver is installed. You will have to take your laptop in and possibly get the cd/dvd player replaced.
