Virus My insirion B130 has a virus. It will load up the home page but no icons show up and then it'slike it is locked up. it won't do anything. The bar at the bottom says virus alert where the clock is supposed to be. Can this be fixed or do i need to buy a new hard drive? If I have to buy a new hard drive do I have to buy windows XP to install it? Thanks in advance. (I am a computer idiot)

Ok, you could try this out, i do this all the time....

remove the hard drive and install it in an external hard drive casing. you will need another computer that has an up to date virus software to connect this hard drive (through USB) to. scan this hard drive using the second computer, it will definitely remove the virus. Once you are done remove your hard drive from the casing and put it back in your laptop. this should fix your virus problem.

and get yourself a good anti virus software. if you don't know what to get, drop me an email, i will give you advise on what to buy, so to save you money and give you protection.

What does a padlock mean by Facebook in the search bar

The lock icon in the Status Bar and the Location Bar of your browser indicates that the current web page uses encryption mechanisms for securing the connection in order to prevent malicious Internet users from reading and modifying the exchanged data between your web browser and the web server. Next to the lock icon is also displayed the actual domain name to which the encrypted connection is being transmitted.
You should be aware that the lock icon simply indicates that the connection between the web browser and the web server is secured. It does not guarantee that the information will be securely handled after it arrives at the web server. Therefore, you should ensure that you completely trust a web server whose web page shows the lock icon, before typing in private or personal information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details.
If the web page mixes both secure and insecure data, then a lock icon with a red slash over it is shown instead. This means that the current web page contains items (such as images or iframes) that were not obtained through the encrypted connection.

How do I get my google homepage page back

Internet explorer
Got to Tools (ALT+T) in browser
Pick Internet Options in Menu
In the General Tab you will see Box marked "Home Page"
Delete what is in there and insert http://www.google.com
Press Apply Button at the bottom of the Window.
Then Press OK to get back to Browser.
Close Browser and your new home page will be Google.com
If you cannot get it changed this way, then you have a virus which is re-installing ask.com as a home page.
