Question about Ford Tractor Naa Golden Jubilee Emblem

1 Answer

Clutch just stopped disengauging. I have been driving this tractor with no troubles for the past month, when depressed the clutch pedel has always disengauged the clutch, but today, I pushed down on clutch,, and just grind gears. This is of course a 1953 Ford Naa Golden Julilee model.

Yes, the clutch feels the same, I think the clutch disk is stuck to the flywheel. I have read about this happening on other tractors.

Clutch on 8N ford need help have and 8N ford tractor can not get in gear.park it 9 months ago was working fine when parked push pedel nothing happens

Please check and see if there is a steel brake line from the clutch pedal to the transmission, because I think you might have a "hydraulic" clutch.
This means there is a master cylinder near the clutch pedal and a "slave cylinder" mounted on or near the transmission.
Over time, the slave cylinder can fail, and the tractor will no longer shift for you because the pedal will not release the clutch.
The slave cylinder would need replacement or rebuilt.
God bless your efforts.

I have a John Deere garden tractor 420 I was mowing the engine stopped I check the 25 amp fuse it was blown. I replaced it turned the key there is absolutely no power

Im gonna first assume that the 420 you have is the 1986 model and not the 68 model , second this model has hydraulic lift on mower , this model has a electric clutch on pto , I assume that you dissengauged the deck drive before trying to restart , but now if you forgot to do so before replacing fuse it would go again if it's what i think it is , so first disengauge deck second ck fuse again replace if nessacary , start engine attempt to engauge deck if engine dies or it does a short time later, ck your wiring to your pto clutch Look for what looks like a chewed up wire finding none replace pto clutch magnet (or entire clutch if lots of hours on it) also ck out my youtube video on finding electrical faults on lawn tractors this might help ya .

Clutch pedal travel is excessive. Sits about 2"

A clutch pedal takes MUCH more travel to function correctly, when compared to a brake system...

A clutch needs to be replaced (maybe) when it SLIPS, Chatters, Or fails to release...

Other than that, the clutch will need to be adjusted to allow for total release of the relese bearing when pedal is released, and full disengaugement when pedal is depressed....Have a mechanic look at the adjustement, as proper adjustment gives longer clutch life. This is a periodic adjustment item.

On my 98 firebird on cold mornings the clutch will not release. i have had a couple people tell me it was the slave cylinder. what do yall think it could be?

Well, there are a number of areas.
By release you can mean the clutch will not disengauge, or the clutch will not grip, after letting off of the pedal...

THE key is exactly how does the clutch FEEL? A slave would feel like more pedal travel, before any clutch depression happens. If you had a slave issue, you would normally be running through fluid.

Not Disengauge...So, yes, you can have slave or m/c issues, but does the pedal depression feel any different? There is a pilot bearing that supports the front end of the trans input shaft. This bearing is often brass and needs lubrication when apart.

If not clutch grab, while releasing the pedal, this can be the hydraulics or a pressure plate issue. If out of adjustment or worn, the pressure plate sometimes will bind on itself and not release, usually releasing suddenly, eventually....Tests would be to release hydraulic pressure, while car is safely on stands, and with qualified assistant.

1988 golf 1.3 gearbox/clutch funny sound?

First check the oil level in the gearbox. The noise you hear sounds as though the pressure plate of the clutch is faulty. If every time you press the clutch pedel the noise goes away it points to the clutch. If this model has a manual clutch cable adjuster, try and adjust it to see if there is any inprovement.

Clutch

is this a cable or hydrulic clutch pedal? could be a streached or broken cable or a leaking master or slave... depress the clutch pedal while someone under the hood watches the release fork on the transmiison make sure it is completly disengaging the clutch you can also use a plybar to pry the release fork the rest of the way to prove the pedel is the suspect please rate -jeff
