Question about Gateway 7210GX Notebook

1 Answer

7210gx won't power on.

Ok, I did a stupid thing. I replaced the keyboard on this laptop and left out the screw that holds the case together under the hardrive. I located the screw, removed the hardrive with the power ON and now the laptop will not turn on. When pluger in to the wall charger, it shows to be charging the battery and will do nothing else. Internal fuse? Burnt hardrive? Please help. Thanks in advance.

I had just turned off my laptop 2 hrs earlier and went to power back on but

nothing happened. I only show the a.c. light on. I removed the ac power and removed battery and tried reseting by holding on/off button for 15 sec

then replacing ac power but still nothing.

Now that I think about it, last week the battery charge indicator was on for several days before finally going out, I think possible connection to my problem now, any advice

You know what its probably that the power button is not connected to the motherboard. Pull the power button piece back out and reconnect the cable on both sides.

If that doesnt do it, the plastic power button itself might be broken. You can replace that whole button board to fix it. usually $60-$80 for the part (gateway does not sell parts so the companies that do are expensive)

But check that cable first and let us know if it works.
