CTR1800, I appreciate your reply to my problem. I do get a picture. It seems the red and green are out of alignment. Wonder if you can tell me which board is the convergence IC board? I contacted Sony Tech Support and did not get any help on this. Thanks a lot.

you should look for IC with the numbers like stk392-???
most common is stk392-110 replace both ic they will be attached to
two big heak sinks might be board G, also check the 1watt resisters close by they are small resistance like 3.9 ohms should be 6 of them.

Replaced Convergence chips, same problem

This set has pico fuses on convergence board and also on G power board, there should be 2 5 amp pico fuses on power board.

If convergence is bad exactly as before double check the power board fuses and check to see if voltage (it is marked!) is there with power board disconnected from chassis..

Replace your Convergence ICs they are Big Black ICs and will have part number on them,
STK392-110. You also need to check the pico fuses in front and back of ICs they will look like resistors Green or Yellow but are fuses 5amps-7amp pico fuses.

Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. It still can be repaired.
Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section. Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence. You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight. If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem. Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix Reply

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. If you have never done this before we would advise calling a technician or if you want to do it yourself get a complete kit with instructions and support from TvRepairKits.com Their kits include a step by step instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc. Thanks! hope you rate my response

I suddenly have color separation (blue, yellow, white). Flash focus won't work. Any suggestions.

This is a convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually charge between $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

I was watching my HCL4715W TV and the picture

It sounds like one of the convergence Ic chips is bad---you will need to locate and replace both of them and look for any damaged parts around them; there usually are two pico fuses in this area, one for each IC. The fuses do not look like glass fuses--they usually are green or orange in color and will have the amperage marked on them and on the top of the circuit board.
