This is wiring issue and not the systems…check all connections between the phones and the wires, and see if you can get one working cable and use it on a place that does not work and see if it is wire or not…I am sure you have one unit with bad wire or connector that causing the problem as you stated it comes and go.
Please let me know how this worked for you and please do not forget to grade my assistance so I am able to continue to provide you with better service. I will be working with you to conclusion of the issues.

BIS-10 Phone - How to change default line

If you have a "squared" system (each line assigned to a different button), just press a different line button. To change the order of the lines, slide the "T/P" switch to "P" and press the line buttons in the order you want to use them (ie: Line 4, Line 3, Line 2, Line 1).

If your lines are "pooled" you just get the next available line from the pool - no choosing which line you get.

Hope this helps.

My church has an older AT&T Merlin 5 button 8 pin 2 line phone syatem with 4 phones. Need to upgrade the equipment with modern feathers but need to stay with the 8 pin wiring. Can you recommend new...

The Avaya Partner line was one of the branches that AT&T took in phasing out the merlin system. It's been out for at least 20 years and is now up to the ACS with a version number of 8.0 (its not going away anytime soon).Although it doesn't use all 8 pair to activate a set (it uses 4) it still uses an 8 conductor interface on the cards so changing over to it should be fairly simple.

Unfortunately no. The merlin 410 was an early phone system that didn't have much in the way of programming.

Intercom doesn't make beeping sound only flashes Merlin phone sy

Depending on the type of merlin system you have, you should be able to turn the ringers on by moving the switch on the left side of the phone marked T . P to the "p" position. All the lights should light and the set should ring every couple of seconds. Press the line you want to ring and enter *37, repeat for all lines you want to ring. If you want all lines to ring , press any line button and enter *347, slide the T . P switch back to the center "." position.
Hope that helps

My intercom button flashed red to green. When I push a line button, I get a two-tone beep but no dial tone. I changed the internal 9 v battery. I unplugged the phone and waited, then plugged it back in....

Each telephone must be connected to line 1 and line 2 for
proper operation. The remaining lines 3 and 4 may — or may not —
be connected to each station as you desire. First plug in the battery, then the phone lines (1 & 2 are mandatory), and third the power cord. If your intercome LED is blinking red and green, then press: STORE IN, followed by "INTERCOM" followed by a free intercom# (i.e., any of the memory buttons 1 through 16 not already assigned to another telephone set). Then wait for the phone to go through its initiation sequence during which it searches each of the four possible lines. After that concludes, you should get dial tone on your active lines. :-) Marco
