My initial comment is Yes!

It could be either ... to resolve, pop the top and remove the front. Remove the drum. Inspect the belt. Inspect the wheels. Inspect the front bearing (which is the frame around the door.

I hope this helps

FLC271W2 washer squeal during wash cycle

LOUD NOISES IN washing MACHINE;

LOT OF THINGS TO CHECK, THE BELT LOOSE OR WORN, THE CLUTCH, THE TRANNY, THE BEARINGS BOTH TUB SEAL AND BEARING, THE REAR DRUM BEARING,
THE DRIVE PULLEY- If the washer is making a loud noise the drive pulley might be worn out, cracked, loose or bent. Remove the drive pulley and inspect it carefully. If it is damaged or defective replace it.
THE TRANSMISSION, THE MOTOR COUPLER, THE MOTOR DRIVE BEARINGS,
THE DRIVE MOTOR- If the washer is making a loud noise the drive motor bearings may have worn out. Washer motors are normally almost silent when they run. If the motor is run without a belt hooked up to it and it's loud it will have to be replaced.

If the washer is making a loud noise the drain pump might be going bad or might have something caught in it. Remove the drain pump from the washer and inspect it carefully. Look for anything that might be caught in it, a piece of wire, plastic, etc. If nothing is wrong with the pump, but it's still noisy it will have to be replaced.

Loose belts on Maytag Washer LAT2300AAE

It is normal for the belts on this model to be loose. Normally the noise that you are hearing is either the damper (a white plastic type material, comes in a kit) or the pump making the noise. Take the belt off the pump and put it into a spin cycle and see if you hear it. If so ck the tub bearing for rust or leaking and the damper for wear. If you don't here it, ck the pump.

Squeals during the washers spinning cycle

What model is it? The answer is probably both. Every machine I've worked on has a motor with a belt that drives a pulley that turns the tub held in place by bearings. Your squeal could certainly be caused by a bad belt. If the belt looks bad change it. If it looks okay, try a squirt of belt dressing, if the squeal disappears change the belt. If it is a front loader open the loading door, put one hand just inside the tub at the top (like a waiter carring a tray shoulder high with one hand) and LIGHTLY push upwards then drop your hand a little then push upwards etc., etc. If the whole tub moves solidly you are okay, but if you feel a wiggle or a slight space in the jump (man this is harder to explain than i thought it would be) then your bearings may need attention. I doubt it is your bearings causing the squeal though. Does it squeal through entire spin cycle, or just at the beginning?

Squealing sound during spin cycle

Hi, the squealing could be a result of a loose or slack belt or dry bearings, try replacing the belt to see if this cures the problem.

hope this helps.

My washer squeals during spin cycle model frigidaire fex831cso. Sometimes it does it on the highest speed it reaches other times at slow speeds. One thing that is constant is... once it starts squealing...

The belt on my was the culpret. The washer belt has a spring loaded idler. Unplug power and move the idler off of the belt and use a spring hook or longnose vice grips to pull spring out of slot and into the next slot closser to you. There are 5 slotts. Push idler back by hand and put belt back on it. Your done. The transmission just spins as a unit in spin cycle, it does sit on top of a bearing, but that didn't seem to be the problem. If the belt tension doesn't fix it, put some grease and oil in the bearing or replace it.
Eventually you will need a new belt so order one now.

It squeals while its running

HI, there are two possible issues here concerning this noise. it is possible that the belt is worn or, a bit loose on the spinning pulley. i recommend inspection the drive assembly. check the belt for possible ware. replace if necessary.

The second problem spot will be a set of damaged drum roller bearings. you will need to totally disassemble the unit to replace these parts.

***most common issue will be bad roller bearings

Squealing while in spin cycle

normally, slow then build up of speed is a sign of the motor brushes wearing. this may cause squealing under load. the pump pulley may be hard to turn due to hard water calcifying or a build up of dirt... you may want to check the pump out before it becomes another problem. also, are the bearings in the drum dry? the belt also does not need to look as though it is about gone before it needs replacing... it could be that the belt is slipping whilst under a faster loading... try some belt grip spray to see if this cures the noise.if it does, then you are certain you need to replace the belt(s)

Loud squeal during wash and spin cycles, maytag atlantis washer

Squealing normal occurs due to belt slippage. I would check your belts (look for cracks. Check the belt tension as well, most washers have an adjustment, normally on the motor that allows you to increase the tension of the belt.

If part of a belt gets torn and it is long enough, it will hit any part of the washing machine within range and make a clicking noise at every revolution of the motor.

I am pretty sure you need new belts. You should be able to remove a few screws and open the back cover. Between the pulleys there is a tensioner...loosen that so you can remove the belt easily. replace it with a new belt and adjust the tension.

hope this helps
