Question about Whirlpool Dishwashers

Dishes don't get clean

The appliance has no obvious mechanical malfunctions that I can see, water appears to go in (though I'm not sure where it is coming from), swishes around, the soap door opens and the soap is gone at the end of the cycle. The main problem is that the dishes don't get clean. I always pre-clean the dishes fairly well before putting them in, but most anything that was stuck on the dishes going in is there when it comes out, especially greasy finger prints or any margarine/butter residues. Any water left in the dishwasher after the cycle completes is definitely not clean, but rather cloudy. I also have never been able to detect any hot water in the dishwasher. The only time I can detect any heat is when I turn the drying cycle on.

So far, I have tried:
- using different types and brands of detergents
- running the dishwasher through several cycles empty, first with soap, then without
- always run the water in the sink until it is very hot before turning the dishwasher on.
- have check the holes in the sprayer arm to make sure they are not plugged up - there is no visible blockage, no sign of hard water deposits.

Www.dishwasherfilter.com The problem is hard water. There is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. It filters the water before it enters your dishwasher. It works amazing and has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look after the first load. It is also very affordable (like 70 bucks). Go to www.dishwasherfilter.com to find out more info.

Remove the bottom screen assembly and look for debris, like pieces of plastic film and grease, that are blocking water access to the pump impeller intake. Sounds like flow is low and that means to look at the pump intake.

My dishes ang glasses are cloudy *** well as the doors

The cause of the cloudiness is usually due to hard water drying on the dishes and can turn into etching (or pitting) of your dishes. If you have particularly hard water it is well worth investing in a water softener or filters. 2nd; Use plenty of rinse agent (jet dry or similar). Rinse agent gives your dishes a sheen (almost like waxing your car) and helps the dishes dry quickly and cleanly. 3rd; Clean the d/w every 1 to 3 mths. using a good cleaner. Hard water deposits can be cleaned with a little CLR. Use GLISTEN to clean your d/w. Glisten is not found in grocery stores but can be found online or at an appliance parts shop for 5-6 dollars. Most of the time it's because the impeller assembly has either something stuck in it or has just plain worn out.
Also you want to check and make sure the holes in the washing arms are clear (Poke a little toothpick threw them, or small piece of wire/nedel ect).
To get access to the impeller, involves unhooking the power, water and drain line.
Turn the entire unit upside down and remove the plastic impeller, which there is a kit that can be purchased at most local appliance parts suppliers with the model and serial of the unit, to replace just the inner working parts of the impeller assembly.
Just think like a dishwasher and where does the water come from and follow all the pipes and be observant to how it is getting to the washer arms.

Good Luck!

My Beko dishwasher model number DWD 4310 has stopped working and now trips the electricity when you turn it on.

Dishwashers are appliances that work in the kitchen to clean dishes. It has rules to govern its use and when those rules are broken, the dishwasher will fail to work. The General Electric dishwasher is a great addition to kitchen appliancesmag-glass_10x10.gif and also has a set of maintenance rules to ensure proper functioning. If for some reason the machine decides to malfunction, there are a few troubleshooting ideas to look into.
  1. Eliminate abnormal odors in your General Electric dishwashermag-glass_10x10.gif by removing any food particles found on the bottom of the machine. Locate any plastic, paper or other debris blocking the pump inlet and remove. Unblock the spray arm jets with a paper clip.
  2. Step 2 Do not overload the dishes, as this can cause poor drying. See that the dishes are not touching each other. Make sure the water temperature is between 120 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit for best drying performance.
  3. Step 3 Check under the sink to locate the water valve found on the water line. If your dishwasher is not filling up with water, make sure the valve is open. Turn the valve all the way to the left.
  4. Step 4 Make sure the water pressure isn't too low if the dishwasher isn't filling up completely. Water pressure must be 20 to 120 psi. Make sure that the inlet water hose connected to the dishwasher is not kinked. Remove the toe-kick plate on the front of the bottom of the dishwasher to check the hose.
  5. Step 5 Notice whether or not the dishwasher drains while filling, as this is a sign of either an air gap in the drain hose, or the loop from the floor to prevent backflow of water isn't 32" high. If either problem is located, fix it. Check the water level when the fill cycle has completed. The level should be just under the heating element. If it is not, you will know the water is draining while filling.

The top drawer does not get my dishes clean. When the come out, it seems as though water is on the inside but they are not clean

Clean the sprayer arm. You can try running dishwasher cleaner through the machine or remove the arm and make sure the holes are clean and free from obstruction. If this is clear then you will need to check the pump to make sure it is pushing water at a sufficient flow to clean the dishes on the top rack.

Dishwasher leaving the remains of dish washing liquid all over dishes nothing is getting clean

Is water also standing in the bottom like it isn't getting pumped out? If so, probably the drain system is plugged and everything below the lower spray arm needs to disassembled to the deck--noting the position of each piece as they are removed. Look for food plugging holes in the deck and any obviously damaged parts. Clean the large screen in vinegar and hot water--let soak for a while to remove water and food deposits. Check the drain hose from end to end looking for kinks or other restrictions. Make sure the pump mechanism at the bottom turns freely. Check both spray arms for plugged spray holes or split seams. Reassemble in reverse order. Run a cycle without dishes to clean further--make sure the water drains out at the end. Listen for proper water movement while running. Open the door to inspect progress several times.

White Residue

most likely it is your detergent. palmolive eco is notorious for leaving a white chalky residue on dishes. try this out before calling a service tech: put unclean glasses in the dishwasher and in your soap dish and rinse cycle cup put 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar. if it cleans (or improves) your dishes, then your detergent is the culprit.

Kenmore Elite

Hmm, I'll start at the top :->. Well, first thing is that Kenmore doesn't manufacture any appliances. The only thing Sears has is the name recognition, therefore, they have GE, LG, Whirlpool, and others to make appliances for them and Kenmore slaps on their label. On with the problems though :-> 1. Door is grungy looking. Make sure your air-gap ( if you have one) is clear and not clogged. If you don't have one, make sure the drain hose is mounted to the underside of the counter, under the sink. This will prevent Gookus from backfilling into your dw. 2. There are 3 main things to check when repairing dw - Circulation, Heat, and Drainage. There's not much else. Here are some tips to address each one. a) Make sure all spray arms are turning. Put in one position, close door, run, open, and verifiy they moved. If not, clean holes in spray arms, or, remove filter and clean around impeller or chopper. I find clogs all the time. b) Heat. Make sure you are running your hot water in the sink until max hot water is reached. This is very important and should be listed in the users manual. Most dw's run several cycles before the heater element is energized. Water must be 120F when entering dw. c) Hard Water buildup. Use Lemon Shine, available from Walmart. This will clean the dw and prevent buildup on dishes. d) drainage. Addressed above. I've seen countless times where food and other gookus goes right down garbage disposal and into the dw drain line, where it recirculates on to dishes. Make sure air-gap is clear or that hose is secured to underside of countertop. e) Make sure the element is working. Once easy way to check is to verify dishes are dry at the end of the cycle. If not, call a service tech and get fixed. I've found black mold (splatter) on inside of dishwasher due to heater element bad. Hope this help!
