Question about Computers & Internet
Any suggestions how I can repair a hard drive in a Pioneer DVR-550HX-S which I can see on my laptop via the USB cable but cannot identify the platform operating on the disk. Windows informs me its a "Generic Hierarchical" system...what's that? I don't want to reinitialize the disk and lose all the recordings. Thanks.
The Pioneer DVR systems use a linux based drive format, as such you will need to download and install a linux file system driver into your computer to access the files.
download and install the driver file and you should be able to read the drive. If you're still having problems feel free to post back here and I will continue to assist you,

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
