Ryan, great question about how to install a pipe boot on a shingled roof. I'm curious to know if there's a specific technique to used, especially if you have a steeply pitched roof. I would imagine that a licensed, reputable, and experienced roofer would be able to do this. My parents have an old 3 tab shingle on their gabled roof. They're thinking about having their roof replaced. I'd also like to know the correct way to install a pipe boot. http://www.silverleafroofing.com.au/rest...

CLEAN OFF AS MUCH OF ANY SEALANT FROM THE PIPE AS POSSIBLE YOU SHOULD SEE 2 NAILS EXPOSED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PLATE REMOVE THESE TWO NAILS. YOU WILL NEED A NAIL PULLER FOR SHINGLES THIS IS A TOOL THAT ALLOWS YOU TO REACH UNDER THE SHINGLE TO GET TO THE OTHER NAILS UNDER THE SHINGLES YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE SHINGLES ABOVE THE VENT BOOT. IF THE SHINGLES ARE 5 YRS OR OLDER TAKE CARE NOT TO BREAK THE SHINGLES. AFTER YOU REMOVE THE SHINGLES FROM ABOVE THE VENT BOOT YOU CAN SLIDE THE OLD BOOT OFF AND PUT THE NEW BOOT ON PUT A BEAD OF ROOF CEMENT UNDER THE NEW BOOT AND BETWEEN THE NEW BOOT AND THE SHINGLES TO HELP THEM SEAL AND MAKE THEM WATER TIGHT. THIS IS NOT AN EASY TASK BUT CAN BE DONE. GOOD LUCK

The boot slips over the vent pipe. The plastic rectangular part of the boot slips under the shingles that are toward the ridge. The rectangle part forms a shingle.

When reroofing a house, should I remove the asphalt singles or leave them,

This is the car and truck section, but I'll go ahead and give an answer.
Generally speaking, you should not add shingles over a layer that is 30 yrs old. Some people do, but you run the risk of the old shingles warping and damaging the new layer.
Your insurance company might be a good source of info.

My house has big puck in the roof. It's making the rooftop with a sink.. how & what to use to fix this? Its an old house wood frame.

FLO call a roofing contractor FAST .you have rotted sheeting that needs replaced and possibly rafters also .we had to re-roof our home 2 years ago and decided on a steel roof instead of the asphalt shingles that were on it since built .it will not be CHEAP either way .

How do I re-roof my house easily

If you mean re shingling, here in USA there are usually building codes to be complied with, such as: If there is just one layer of shingles on the building, you can add a second layer, but if there are two layers of shingles they both must be removed, and new tar paper installed before a layer of shingles are placed. Also with all shingles removed is a time to inspect and replace all rotten wood of roof, before repapering and reshingling. If you've never seen of watched the process by done by professionals, I'd recommend getting bids from three roofers, and pay the best price to do it. Get a full written contract before they start, because there could be significant damages if there are leaks after the job is done.
Maybe watch some youtube videos of roof reshingling. there are many special tool techniques to do the job right, (And not fall off the roof either)

What to do for fungus on ashpalt shingles?

Try to scrape off as much as you can without damaging the shingles. If you have moss growing on your shingles, you have a debris (needles)/moisture/lack of sunlight. Diluted bleach with water in a spray canister is the cheapest way.

Codes for layers of shingles

If im understanding correctly you are saying that there are 4 layers asphalt and 1 wood? If thats the case it doesn't matter where you live I can tell you that is not code. The absolute most I have ever seen is three comp and 1 wood. That is a lot of weight on your roof. If you live where you will see snow this year I'd have that looked at for safety reasons.

Surface area =300 square feet 25 year old ash

Ash fault? I think you mean "asphalt" but that's OK. You haven't given enough information to solve the problem, but here's what you need to do.

You know the area of the roof is 300 square feet (sq ft). You should know the area of each asphalt shingle, although that's the information you didn't give. When you know that figure, the calculation is very simple:

number of shingles needed = area of roof / area of one shingle

I don't know if this is a class problem, or if you really have a roofing job. Don't forget that on a real roof, the shingles overlap. If you do the calculation, the number you get is right only if you lay the shingles edge-to-edge. A real-world roof would need probably twice that number. Shingles come packed in bundles, and they usually tell you the area they cover. (By the way, 100 square feet is termed a "square".)

GE Monogram Overhead Hood is drippiong water

The hood pipe vents through the roof. Either the shingles around the pipe, or the rubber flange the pipe goes through is allowing water to enter and run down the pipe.

Someone will have to go on the roof with a tube of roof cement and look for a void in the flange or the shingles. For sure I would run a bead of roof cement around the pipe where it goes through the flange.
