Question about Dell Latitude D600 Notebook
This may be a display problem. Let it boot and in a fairly bright room look at the screen from a few angles if you see a ghost image then the problem is your back light has failed. It is possible your video display is the problem. To test that you need to connect your laptop to an external monitor and see if you get a picture then. If you get a picture then it is probably your back light if you don't your video display which is a more serious problem.
LCD's work sort of like a projector where the lcd forms the image and the back light shines through so you can see it. So if the back light fails the image is still there but hard to see. There are several places that can repair this for about $120-$150. It is a repair you can do if you have some technical ability. You can order the parts from several places and they usually have online guides available. Have a look at them before you order to be sure you are up to it.
