First remove the chuck ret screw it is LH threads, shift the tool to the low position and the clutch to drill only. Find a bent handle allen wrench about the chuck capacity and lock the smaller end into the jaws, next put the chuck on a workbench or block of wood with the long portion at about a 30 degree handle so you can hit it counter clockwise and strike it with a hammer, it might take a few hits but it will come loose.

I have a hitachi dv18dl and the chuck is broken i just need to no what type of screw is in the chuck so i can remove it? thanks

THE CHUCK SCREW IS EITHER A TORX BIT, POSSIBLE 20 TORX OR ITS A PHILIPS OR SLOTTED SCREW, REMEMBER THE SCREW IS LEFT HAND THREAD AND ALLOT OF THE TIMES IS LOCTITED IN SO IT DOESN'T UNSCREW WHEN THE ITEM IN THE CHUCK SLIPS AND RUBS ON THE TOP OF IT. IT SHOULD REMOVE FAIRLY EASY!! MAKE SURE WHEN REMOVING THE CHUCK THE TOOL IS IN LOW GEAR/ DRILL MODE OR YOU WILL FIGHT IT FOREVER AND POSSIBLY DOEING DAMAGE TO THE CLUTCH/TRANNY ASSY. THE CHUCK WILL UNSCREW STANDARD THREAD, SHOULD BE A 2 MINUTE PROSSES TO REMOVE THE CHUCK UNLESS ITS ON REALLY HARD. JIMS TOOL SERVICE

Intermitent Electrical fault

As I read from someone on this site. After removing the screw, put a large allen key (short end) into the chuck and tighten. with a hammer tap it in the opposit direction of forward direction. the chuck will then unscrew. then you will be able toget to the screws that hold the chutch ring on.

Slipping clutch on low switch with Milwaukee 2601-20 drill/driver. Can't separate clutch housing assy from drill. Is it pressed on? Same for chuck. I've removed the screw in chuck, still won't separate.

this tool has a 5 year limited warranty so I would try and have repaired under warranty. I looked at a breakdown and it doesn't specify how the chuck is on but I would to think it is threaded. the clutch is an assembly and there are no replacements parts other than the assembly available. Let me know if you need more assistance.

Adj.clutch

those numbers have nothing to do with speed.

They are torque setting for the drill, so you don't overdrive the screw in....the smaller the number, the less torque.

Plz don't take you drill apart

Struggling to remove chuck from makita 84444d

K what you need to do is remove the chuck retaining screw LH threads and then switch the gear selector to low and the clutch to drill only. Find a bent handle allen wrench about the chuck capacity and lock it in the jaws. put the chuck on a workbench or block of wood and on the long part of the wrench have it at about a 30 degree angle and strike it counter clockwise and that should remove it. you might have to hit it a couple times

Locking ring split on keyless chuck

First you need to shift the tool to the low position, turn the clutch setting to the drill only position. Open the jaws and remove the chuck retaining screw it is LH threads. After all this find a bent handle allen wrench about the size of the chuck capacity and insert the smaller end in chuck and tighten. Put the chuck on a block or wood or workbench with the wrench at about a 30 degree angle so you can hit the wrench counterclockwise. Strike it with a hammer, it might take a couple times but this usually works. Good Luck

I need to remove the chuck from the drill

In continuation after removing the chuck screw which is left hand thread shift the drill to LOW and use a bent handle allen wrench approx the size of the chuck lock it in the jaws. Turn clutch setting to the drill only position and using a hammer strike the hex key. The chuck has standard threads. To reassemble just reverse this

Removing the chuck on a dewalt DC925 cordless drill.

I just changed the chuck on my 18 volt xrp half inch hammer drill, yes first you must remove the torx screw with #15 torx bit, note this is a left handed thread screw, knowing the bad chuck was bad I added some heat from a propane torch to the chuck then making sure it was in 1st gear i took some vise grips and the chuck is screwed on with normal right handed threads,it broke loose (was stubborn but needs a lot of torque )ahhhhhh wat a pain.
