Question about Maytag Performa PAV2200

1 Answer

Starting problems When the button is pushed to start the cycle the motor will buzz. Sometimes the dryer will start, sometimes I have to have the lid up and help the drum start to turn. After doing this the dryer will run until the cycle is complete. I've cleaned out all the lint, the belt looks good. I have also ran the motor with the belt off and the motor comes on just fine, but will still have a short buzz sound. The shaft of the motor is easy to turn, but with everything assembled the drum is hard to turn. Could this mean that my drum rollers are bad? While the dryer is running there are no noises out of the ordinary. Thank You to anyone who can help BigErn

This sounds like my problem, i have a model#PYE2200AYW
    Front load dryer.
When I push the start dial, it buzzes, but wont turn, or get going..
when I try again w/ the auto door button pushed closed, I see the drum is trying to spin but is lacking power, so I gave it a push and it seemed to start a full rotation. but would not kick in fully.

Is this a motor problem too?, or could it be a loose belt?
    &
if it's the motor, Can I change it myself?..How??

I just lost my job and the clothes are piling up!
    thank you in advance!

The motor is bad i run in to this a lot in the field the motor isn't strong enough to pull the drum but it is good enough to pull itself
replace the motor and this should take care of the problem good luck

Whirlpool dryer makes a buzzing sound whey start button is pushed. sometimes it will turn on for a few seconds but most of the time it just buzzes.

The buzzing is probably the relay trying to start the motor. See if the motor has a capacitor, have it checked. If the motor is all clogged with lint, the start/run switch can get blocked. Clean out all that lint with a vacuum cleaner.
Check the tub bearing, and make sure the drum spins freely.

Maytag Performa dryer blows fuse after clothes get hot. I cleaned a large buildup of lint from inside the dryer all the way to my roof. I then replaced the hi limit thermostat, thermal fuse and dryer...

Hello,
their are two possiblities causing that

1) while cleaning the lint from the motor a wire accidently got pulled of of the motor switch

2) to me the buzzing when start button is pushed and may or may not start, the motor is bad

When trying the trick to start the motor by hand the door switch also must be pressed in

Have AMANA dryer ALE230RAW. Hear buzz when start

I also have this problem, but it is after the dryer has been running. When the motor is hot, it buzzes and will not run. Sometimes it will run if I turn the drum or take some clothes out. I disassembled the dryer and cleaned the motor of lint. This helped but not completely solved the issue. I have completely removed the motor and will thoroughly clean the motor (stator and brushes) and will try again.

Turns off after a few minutes

sounds like your motor is overheating or going bad. sometimes lint built up around the motor can cause it to overheat. or the motor is dying.

Kenmore electric dryer model # 87670100

The motor is weak and needs replaced, don't hold the start button too long or you may smoke the motor's thermal protection and it could get smokey and stinky. Make sure you can get the blower wheel off before you make a run for parts, sometimes you have to break them off the shaft. : (

Kenmore dryer will not start

If the buzzing noise is from the vicinity of the switch, then suspect the push button contacts, if from within the bowels of the machine, then something is probably preventing the motor from running up to speed, it is stalled - (there are buzzes, and buzzes). This could be many things, from something mechanically jamming the drum, to worn bearings or a faulty motor/start circuit.
As I am not aware of your skills, I am not asking you to take the back off and have a look.
