Question about Intel Play QX3 Monocular Microscope
Hi, I am having a problem with this microscope. I have downloaded and installed the drivers and software for XP from the Intel site since I can no longer find the XP upgrade cd I once had. After installing the drivers and software, I connected my microscope to my computer via the USB cable. My computer recognized the new hardware and found the proper software for it. When I tried to actually run the software/microscope, however, I was told that my computer was not communicating with the microscope and that I should restart my computer. I tried that. I downloaded the LivVid troubleshooter from Intel and followed all of the directions and still don't have an answer. In my device manager, it shows the microscope without any splat. When I run the software program, my microscope turns on and I can switch the light from top to bottom using the software. I don't understand what is going on. I have a Dell Dimension 4600 and am running XP Home Edition. Help! :)
Try a different computer and install the QX3Plus application (for Win 2K-XP). If it works okay, then completely remove (uninstall) it from your Dell 4600 and clean up the registry of unusable strings (try Advanced Registry Optimizer, its a free download). Then do a clean QX3Plus install BEFORE you plug in the USB cable. If the QX3 did not work on a different computer, the QX3 is faulty and maybe you should look at the QX5 as a replacement. The QX3 was discontinued at around the turn of the Century. However, if you are only missing the SPLAT; try locating the green button at the lower left corner of the image screen, it produces drop-down dialog boxes to splat screens. Good Luck!
