I have a remote control TV. It is an old unit. It was working fine and suddenly it has a large black rectangle pop onto the screen at the point where the adjustment boxes go. If you press a button or change channels it goes away for a few seconds and then returns. How can I eliminiate it.

Hold in vol.up and vol. down at the same time. OR Channel up and channel down at the same time for 5 seconds. If you still have the same problem.Go into the menu and goto cc or close caption or text and turn it off. One of them should do it.

Testimonial: "You hit it. I went into menu and found out someone had turned on the closed caption T4. I turned it off and the black box went away. Thanks"

If the VCR button lights up when you press the Power button, you are not in the correct mode to operate the TV. If the remote is programmed correctly, when you are in SAT mode, you can press the large RED button to turn your receiver off/on. The RED TV button will turn your TV off/on. I have provided links to program your remote to your TV again. I have also provided codes for your Sanyo TV.

Instructions to program your remote to your TV (begin with step 6):

http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/remote-setup
Here are the TV codes: 590, 683, 589, 542, 652

I hope this helps.

My tv has no volume,i checked every cable connection and it all fine.I know my speakers are fine in the tv everything was fine until a button was pressed on one of the remotes the tv or the direct tv...

Remove all batteries from your remotes. Unplug the unit for several minutes. Plug unit in and use the controls on the set to turn it on and adjust the volume. This will eliminate the remotes. They could have a button stuck. If this does not work you may have a legitimate problem and need a tech.

Television response.

Try to locate the line of sight sensor on your TV that does not respond to the remote. The lack of response indicates that the sensor on the TV needs to be cleaned. It does not take much (dust, wax, cleaner residue) to block the signal.

Unwanted black rectangle on the TV screen

I'm not sure what type of TV you are using,, but most all Large Screens have a reset button someplace. You should be able to reset the TV and fix the problem. Its not the remote, making the image appear, but a command from it was misinterpeted. Sometimes turning the set off will work, but most often it needs to be reset.

EXCEPTION... if you are using a cable box. Disconnect it from power, wait 1 minute and then see if the problem exists. If the cable box is on even with the DVD you may still have this issue. Please reset the cable, and if that doesn't work, reset the TV.
Thanks! //D
