Computer Tips: Open Office 2007 Files into Office 2003

How to open office 2007 files into Office 2003?
Today tip will help you to resolve the compatibility issues between the Office 2003 and Office 2007. Because all programs in office 2003 used the old file extensions for its different programs. For example Word 2003 saved files with extension .doc, Excel 2003 with .xls and PowerPoint with .ppt. but on the other office 2007 used the new file extensions for its different programs. For example Word 2007 saved files with extension .docx, Excel 2007 with .xlsx and PowerPoint with .pptx. Now the problem is that when you will try to open office 2007 files into office 2003 and you will not open the file due to compatibility issues between both office versions. Microsoft provides a free compatibility pack to convert office 2007 documents to the office 2003 format. There are many third party free converter are available but here we are using Microsoft office compatibility pack.
Follow the given steps to download free Microsoft compatibility pack and install it.
To use this feature, you will need to be logged into your computer with administrative rights.
Visit the following link to download the Microsoft compatibility pack:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=941b3470-3ae9-4aee-8f43-c6bb74cd1466&displaylang=en
When you have downloaded the file, double click on FileFormatConverter.exe file to start the installation.

I deleted my Microsoft Office Activation Wizard

try this :
1. Quit all running programs.

2. Download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility.
http://download.microsoft.com/download/E/9/D/E9D80355-7AB4-45B8-80E8-983A48D5E1BD/msicuu2.exe

3. After you have installed the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility, click
Start>All Programs>Windows Install Clean Up.

4. Highlight Microsoft Office 2007 entry in the list and then click
Remove. Click OK and wait for the process to end. If any other stand alone
Office applications (such as Visio and Project) appear on the list, please
also remove them. Then, click Exit to close the Windows Installer Cleanup
utility.

5. Click Start>Run, type "regedit" (without the quotation marks) in the
Open box and press Enter.

6. Locate the registry keys below and click Delete from the Edit menu.
Click OK on the following warning dialog box.

Note: Please go to File>Export and backup all the registry first.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office

Quit Registry Editor.

7. Delete or rename the following folders or files if they exist:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE12
C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel
C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Application
Data\Microsoft\Office
C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook
C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Application
Data\Microsoft\Publisher
C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Application
Data\Microsoft\Templates\Normal.dot
C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Application Data\Microsoft\Word
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Office
C:\Program Files\OfficeUpdate12

8. Click Start>Run, type "%Temp%" (without the quotation marks) in the
Open box and press Enter. Delete all the files and folders within it. If
there are some files which cannot be deleted, just leave them alone and
this will not affect the result.

9. Empty the Recycle Bin.

10. To remove Mapi, search for and rename the following folders/files if
they exist:

C:\Windows\system32\mapi32.dll
C:\Windows\system32\mapisvc.inf
C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Msmapi
C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi

11. Restart your computer and install Office 2007 again.

I had Microsoft Office 2007 on my computer, but I needed 2003 for something so I installed it. Later, I tried to open Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 and it always prepares for install, but then I get Error...

Hello slavena95
I am maybe misunderstanding you but if you are trying to use two different versions of MO on the same computer , this won' t work . If you are not , probably some files or keys of MO 2003 are still remaining in the registry , causing conflicts with MO 2007 .
To correctly and entirely delete a program , you should use a third party program such as the free version of RevoUninstaller from : http://download.cnet.com/Revo-Uninstaller/3000-2096_4-10687648.html

I couldn't download ms office 2007 from any search engine and my standard program files got deleted yesterday so what i have to do to olve the problem to get them back..please correct if i am wrong..

downloading microsoft word 2007 from a search engine is a TERRIBLE idea. this just screams "virus, pleas attack my computer. thank you." if you don't have the disc, your best bet may be restoring your windows to factory image and you iwll have a 30 day trial of word on there. from there you can either purchase a new key or try to find the cd.

Do not open pptx file in office 2007

Either don't have Microsoft Powerpoint 2007 installed on your PC or your MS Office 2007 version does not have Microsoft Powerpoint 2007 program.

You can download the PowerPoint Viewer 2007 @ http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=048dc840-14e1-467d-8dca-19d2a8fd7485&displaylang=en
install the PowerPoint Viewer 2007 and view the *.pptx file

I bought a laptop with microsoft prof preinstalled

That's nasty...contact the folks who sold you the computer and find out why there was only a trial version instead of a full version. Boy would I squeal.....
Now if you get no satisfaction from either the computer company or (good luck) Microsoft... Here is a great plan "B". Go to this site and download Open Office, FREE...It works exactly like MS Office is completely compatible with MS Office into and out of...The programs in suite match up extremely well...over 50,000,000 folks are using it...OH an did mention FREE, not $379.00 for the pro suite.
http://download.openoffice.org/

Click on the big green bar...you'll love it, I just saw 139,000,000 souls googled it...
Please leave rating...

if u had office installed it should be in your C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office folder.
also check this.
One user succeeded by renaming mso2002.dll to proplus.msi http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?s=4bafe39c4910c1204225d07010b53bea&showtopic=9804&st=10&#entry81250

MSVCR80.dll

Many people have found that when you update to 2007 the msoxmlmf.dll file is moved from c:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\office 11\msoxmlmf.dll to c:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\office 12\msoxmlmf.dll. When I moved it back to office 11 location everything worked fine. BTW, I had the same error. Good luck Richard
