Connector needs to be resoldered. it is soldered to the board and to the tin tuner housing. Most likely it is loose from the housing which is making it move around and not alowing it to get a good ground.

When I plug in my DVD using the Red, White, Yellow cables the picture is fuzzy. The female sockets on the back of the TV are loose. How can I tighten them

You can usually use some pliers to squeeze the outside of the RCA connector (when it is disconnected from your TV) to give it a tighter fit BUT, few things to keep in mind,
  • All cables are not equal, a higher quality RCA cables may give improved results. I wouldn't bother with gigantic gold plated $50 cables or anything like that, just a bit thicker gauge wire a better connectors than what comes with a DVD player.
  • Using the "red/white/yellow" connections as you stated is what is called Composite Video. The white/red is left/right audio, while the yellow is the video signal. A better picture will be had if you use a higher quality signal such as the Component Video (red/green/blue connectors) out (if your TV is supported, or of coarse HDMI)
I hope this helps

Fuzzy picture on tv 54in

Check your coaxial cable connection and inspect it wiggle it while the set is on if the problem clears replace the cable. Check to see if the male connector that sticks out the back of the set isint loose to the point where it moves when you touch it. If it does you need to have it looked at by a tech usually this problem can be solved with a little soldering but could get more complicated. Depending on the age of the set the fluid in the CRT's gets old and cloudy and light cant shine through it makeing your picture appear fuzzy. Your local tech should be able to change the oil in your set. Finally you could have some bad filter caps but I doubt it.

Cable picture is fuzzy

Call your cable company as there might be a problem with the drop line or aerial coming into your house. now another thing is if you have a signal splitter( ex: 2-way, 3-way, 4-way) before the cable box, that could be degrading the signal as each input may drop the signal significantly. remeber, don't use too many splitters as they will make the signal faded/fuzzy. also, make sure all the connectors are clean and are not badly bent or the ends frayed. If you can see wire insulation from the cable line then it's no good.

Hello: Your problem seems to be in or around the tuner of the television, More then likely you have cold solder joints on the turner that needs to be resoldered. Also check the coax end protruding from the back of the set where u connect the cable and make sure it is not loose, a bad ground on this connector to the turner shield will cause this symptom. My professional diagnostic is that when the television is cold the solder connections are making contact with the board, and as heat builds up in the television while watching these connections tend to seperate and make limited contact, causing fuzzy picture and in most cases no picture just snow...

If I tap the rca jacks in the back the screen gets distorted

You need a hdmi connector from your tv source to the TV. RCA connectors don't have the capability for HD signal transmission. You can use them for a connection but the picture will be fuzzy if trying to watch HD signal. Check your cable/dish box to see if there is a hdmi output. If so, buy a hdmi cable & that should solve your problems.

Picture gets fuzzy or goes black with slight vibration.

it sounds like a loose connection with your signal but if the connection is tight i have seen loose connectors on the small signal board itself which may be resolveable by resoldering connector on signal board which would be far less expensive than replacing signal board itself

RCA 25GT511 - fuzzy picture slight static sound; wiggle coax rear mount temp resolve

There might be a bad (loose) connection in the RF isolator or the tuner (both are silver boxes. Try to unplug the coax and bend the RCA tabs in so that the connection gets firmly made when reconnected. This may help. If it does not The connector may have to be replaced.
