Question about Dell OptiPlex GX270 PC Desktop
When turning on my computer, all I get is a black screen w/ a C: flashing. In the boot device menu when running IDE drive diagnostics I am receiving an error that the primary IDE WDC WD400BB-75JHCO Fail w/ return code 7 Primary SATA & Secondary SATA says Drive 0: No device Any advice, help!
Your hard drive may be dead, the partition/boot sector is damaged or the motherboard seiral ata chip is bad. If it is one of the first two you will need to delete the partition, re-create the partition and format the drive. Take the drive out and install it in another computer as a slave and see if the drive is recognized and files are all there. If it works in the other computer try backing up the drive and then re-install it in the problem computer and try to format and re-install the system either using the installation discs that came with the computer. If the system utility to restore the computer is located on the drive you might have an issue. You can try using that utility if you have it and it may or may not work.
