Try taking a stick of RAM out, if that doesn't work try replacing the one you took out with the one you left in, i will check back later to see if the problem was solved

You must have 2 sticks of RAM to try this

Compaq Presario C300 beeps 4 times

Sounds like a GPU issue. That will require professional help of a specialist nature. The GPU has probably been run too hot and unsoldered itself.

Need pinout for Gateway E4300 motherboard. Front panel pins and audio pins need homes.

The connections are usually printed on the motherboard near the pins.
Power, HD, etc near the front of the case, audio usually near the back low down on the board.

When i turn the power on, 3 beeps play, the fan runs and the power light comes on, but nothing else

Hearing ONE beep is normal, and a signal that the computer hardware is OK.

Hearing THREE beeps is a signal that something is wrong:
* burnt-out CPU,
* one of the fans is not spinning (clogged?) or spinning too slowly (about to seize-up),
* one of the RAM chips is defective
* the video-card is not working

If there is more than one RAM stick, remove all but one stick, and start it up, to see if it starts.

Check that the fans are spinning freely.

Amber light flashing on switching on the pc why?

HI,

A blinking amber light means that there is a problem with the power supply or the motherboard. I know that could be a number of things. Perhaps you could give some additional information.

1) Does the green light come on on the motherboard?
2) Do any/all of the fans work? Power supply or computer cooling.
3) Do you get any other lights? CD/DVD player?

You may have to get someone to see if your power supply outputs are all good.

I hope that gives you some starting points.

Thanks for using Fixya.

I have been getting beep codes with no monitor and the codes suggest reseating memory. I've done that and now my fan runs really fast and the power buton is amber with still no monitor

The amber light means hardware failure, you'll have to figure out which hardware failed.

If you would like to ship it to me to be repaired, contact me at info@taeckertindustries.com
