Question about Carrier LBP Humidifier

Steamed up windows carrier humccsbp2412-a

Never worked properly from day one. I suspect it is an installation problem. I had the installer come back out once with no luck. He did such a lousy overall job, I couldn't stand to talk to him again. My windows steam up way too much regardless of what setting I leave it at. Could the solenoid possibly be wired backwards? Last winter I was relegated to opening and closing the supply valve as needed

It should not run while the fan on the furnace isnt running and if the humidity in the house is higher then the setting on the humidistat(HS). If he mounted the humidistat on the duct you need to make sure he cut a hole to allow the HS to sense whole house humidity thru the return air duct. if you turn the knob on the HS if you listen closly you should hear it click indictacting the humidity level as you raise the dail when you go above the indoor hum it will click and the humidifier should turn on and vise-versa. if it doesnt turn off /on when you hear the click then its wired wrong.

Chances are it's from the condesate tubes or collector box. If not, you may have a cracked A/C drain pan- lots of installers over tighten the male adapter into them and cause cracks. next check to see if they installed all the condensate plugs at install, some installers don't- read the manual in the "how to set up the condesate" section and trace EVERY tube to make sure they are routed correctly and not cracked/ cut/ nicked. Most furnaces are multi-position now and some installers don't move every tube nessessary... Hope this helps, if not, post a close-up pic, and I'll pinpoint the bad spot for you...

No increase in humidity after installing whole house humidifier

have you checked the damper ? is the motor running the right direction ? have you increased the water supply to it ? you need to be sure that it is coming on only when you have a call for heat, normally your humidistat should be installed near the return, or on the return duct, for proper sensing, you could try holding a pan of steaming water, placing the stat above it, not to close, to see if the stat shuts off the hum, a little trick, that way you will know if the stat works ok, hope these helped, thanks for the question, mr.grzz

Aprilaire 500 - Everything works, but humidity will not increase!

You should take out that aprilaire and throw it in the garbage or return it to who you got it from. Ask them why they didn't offer you the best humidifiers available. The only way to truly control humidity in your home without running your heat is a steam humidifier. Autoflo makes a good one also honeywell makes a new one. I have installed a honeywell tru steam in my own home and a few customers it hasn't lived up to its advertising. The auto flo has never given me any problems with customers.

Honeywell True Steam Humidifier

Yes you will want the out door sensor. The reason why is it is going to read the average temp outside and will adjust what you hum is producing due to the temp outside, that is so you dont cause condensation on your window. You can run it in manuel or auto but i would strongly reccomend to run it in auto.
