I want to print just black and white, because i have run out of all the other ink. My printer is not hooked up to my PC. Every time I press print in black it tells me to replace all the other cartridges.

Hello there tyler_1231.

Here's your GEEK-steer ...

The sad fact is: some printers require ALL (including color) cartridges be installed in order to print (even if only B&W), and some don't. Based on your stated printer's display messages, yours apparently falls into the former.

Just for good measure though, have tried ensuring the setting in the printer's config is set to "black & white"/"greyscale" versus color? If so, I'd say you're at this point forced to make a trip to the supply store/website.

Good luck, and thanks in advance for posting back ...

Is there any way to continue to print in BLACK AND WHITE when he colored ink has run out...((5 of the time I print in B&W

I'm afraid not. Most colour printers print what is known as 4 colour black to give a deeper more solid black, so all the coloured inks as well as black are needed to print a black text or image.

Printer does not print in color but only prints in

Run a "print-head-cleaning-cycle" -- the ink inside the cartridges is not getting through the ink-jets, and is not reaching the paper.

Either that, or the electronics inside the ink-jets are malfunctioning, i.e., not telling the ink-jets to shoot the ink out.

All colors print on the page except for the black ink. I've replaced the cartridge several times.

Hi,

Print a self-test page
1. Make sure the printer is on and loaded with unused, plain, white paper.
2. Press the * and # keys at the same time and then press 1, 2, and 7 .
3. Press the Right-arrow key to select Reports and then press the OK .
4. Press the Left-arrow key and select the vpp self test . The test page prints.
That will help narrow down the problem. If it prints black on the test page, we know it is something to do with the software. If it doesn't print black on the test page then take help from here......... http://printers.iyogi.net/hp/hp-black-white-laser-printer.html Please post your feedback and Vote if the problem resolved as per your satisfaction.

Can't print black and white only with Lexmark 2600!

Hi MikeC,

Most of the time this is due to the black cartridge being out of ink. The Lexmark uses all the colors to create black when the black ink cartridge runs out, but won't let you print black because it is essentially saving ink.

Hope that's the reason and it isn't the printer failing. Good luck! :)

Kodak ESP 5 runs out of ink after about 40 pages of standard text black & white documents. Also the color ink level is dropping, but no color is being used (the printer is set for black & white...

As far as the quantity of black & white - to get more out of it - go to start menu.. Click on on settings,, then printers,, Right click on the ESP 5,, click on printing preferences,, then clcik on draft,, then click on (at the top) advanced,, click on black & white.. Then click on apply then ok..
Now - every time you print it will be in this mode.. If you want to print in color - you will have to choose that each time..
For you black & white docs - this will print faster & use allot less ink..
As far as your color issue & puddling - It could be the printer head.. If it is new enough - call Kodak & maybe get a replacement.. If to old - maybe keep the color cartrige out and caped with the plastic caps until you need to print color.. Snap it in & out as needed..
I hope this helped..
