Dell latitude d600, mic works sometimes

I have a dell latitude d600, and it has a built in mic. some days it works, and some days it doesn't? i don't understand. i have sigma tel downloaded, everythings well. just some days it wont record. is there a reason why? or is my laptop just weird?
