Could be true, but often it is cheeper and better to replace cpu. Otherwise you still have an older computer, that got repaired.

Check in BIOS that your HDD id showing.

if it is showing then do the DPS self Test of the HDD. Surely it will solve your issue.

Otherwise it will be the issue of motherboard.

My hard drive went bad and my asus p4b266-c motherboard is not recognizing the replacement drive. How do I update the motherboard so I can finish installing windows xp pro?

hello, after plugging the new hard disk, you will go to setup from the bios settings and choose ide settings, when you get to the master primary press enter so that the computer can detect the hard disk automatically, once this is done, save the settings and restart your pc

I have a sony STR-de135 receiver whlie looking for one problem created another. While the receiver was unpluged I touched and output transistor MN2488 and it sparked now the left channel sounds distorted so...

The capicitors in the unit are charged. Replacing the output transistor(s) is not a task for a novist. Capicitors, resistors, driver transistors and sometime preamp chips can also be bad as well. If all the bad components are not replaced the parts you replace could blow out again.

This is a motherboard problem. You'll need to replace it. Although, it may be cheaper just to buy a new PC (eMachines are never very expensive, or well-made for that matter)

HP DV6500 will not boot

Motherboard is definitely bad then, you went thru all the steps that I would have done. Sounds to me like the voltage that is going thru the motherboard isn't being regulated properly cause some chips on the motherboard is bad and when there is to much voltage going thru then the laptop shutting off is a safety mechanism in place to avoid chips burning out on the board. Motherboard would have to be replaced.

T2893 e machines wont turn on

Since you are looking inside, try this. Trace the wires that come from the power switch back to the Motherboard. The wires from the switch will connect to two pins on the motherboard. Carefully jump those two pins with a screwdriver and the machine should turn on. I would suggest doing this with all drives and cards unplugged first.

It is either dust build up on the CPU heatsink under the fan or that model is known for blown capacitors...
Open case and check motherboard for blown capicitors and / or dust build up on CPU heatsink
And if there are any bad capacitors then you will need to replace the motherboard.

Motherboard replacement question

You should be fine. Once the MoBo (if it is an exact replacement) is in and your box is completely assembled you should be good to go. I don't know why you are expecting a BSOD though?

I hope this helps,
