Hello. I, too, have experienced this problem and after many days of trying to find a solution, I finally came across it once I Googled using the right terms.

I had to look at the VID and PID for the USB drive, then Googled that, which led to a Russian site that lists a wide variety of USB drives and what tools can be used to recover them. That led me to the following tool:
Super Stick Recovery Tool v1.0.2.19

The user deleted the partition or something on this drive and it no longer worked. When I plugged it into any computer with a variety of OSes, it assigned a drive letter, but that was it. When I clicked on it to open it, Windows said to insert the disk.

I tried going to Disk Administrator and creating partitions and MBR creators and everything. Nothing would recognize that this drive was even plugged in. Of course, Verbatim's software updater was the first thing I tried and even their software said that I needed to plug a Verbatim USB drive into the computer.

I Googled the Super Stick Recovery Tool, downloaded it and ran it and it worked like a champ. NOTE!!!!! It is a destructive process and all data will be lost. But that tool got the LED to light up! It blinked as the Tool did some sort of reformat of the drive and in about 15 seconds the drive was recovered. It asked me to remove the drive. I reinserted it and it was a plain ol' drive without VSafe software, but that's how the user wanted it anyway.

I brosed the internet for a conclusive sollution and there is none.
But i fount some tweaks of my own that works me.

If you usually plug in your flash drive into the front USB panel of your case and it does not recognize the drive, unplug it and plug it in the back panel of your case.

An other thing you can try is to restart your system with the device already pluged in. The secnd one is not very practical, but it does work.

Best regards

Go into Device Manager and if it doesn't appear there click "scan for hardware changes". If that doesn't work, makes sure you have plug and play enabled. Always use the safely remove hardware option when unplugging it.

Verbatim store n go usb flash drive 8 gb device not recognized

My Verbatim Sto N Go 8GB USB Flash Drive does not work in any port, in any computer. When I plug it in, the "Device is not recognized" error comes up. When I click on it, and the Unknown Device Properties comes up, the device status reads: "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)

To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."

The driver details read:
Provider: Advanced Micro Devices
File Version: built by: WinDDK
Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility

This is the 2nd drive of this same brand that quit working within 6 months. I have MONTHS of work on files in this drive, and would hate to have to redo all that work! I was real careful after the first one went bad to use the eject button when removing it from my computer. But I am thinking the last time I clicked the eject button, it froze, so I just pulled it out without the message coming up. Hopefully there is someway to get the computer to recognize this drive again???

No DVD drive will recognize.

try a different brand, depend on when the CD was made, some of the Verbatim CD are no good for any reader.
the laser in the newer CD or DVD reader is mroe sensetive than before, any defect or coating defect will render the disk unusable.
