Not really, Most lenses have grease internally, sand/dirt will collect there easily. Sand is harder than any of the materials in the lens, it will wear parts faster. To get it all, a complete tear down would be the only solution, very time consuming

Right now you are on the "Free" side of the list. I'm an independent not associated with any of the camera, lens or accessory manufacturers I'm a Freelance Photographer that uses this equipment to make my living. Repairs to a lens like this if it were in Canada would run about $120.00 but I'd be asking Ritz cameras first if there were a warranty. If the lens is working for you and you are satisfied with its performance then It's up to you if there is no warranty and it's a pay to repair deal. What I would be asking myself is why is this lens barrel sticking and my answer would be dirt. Lint and oils from our hands will enter the lens barrel and cause all sorts of problems. Also if you use this lens in the field there is sand and other environmental nasty things that get in between the two barrels. I see a lot of questions about these Quantaray lenses, never used one so can't really voice an opinion except that non of the lenses I've owned over the past 30 years have ever stuck because dirt has entered the lens.

One of the gears in my 70-300mm Quantaray lens is broken. Is it worth getting it fixed? Or can I sell it to someone else who may want parts? If so, how much would it cost to fix, or how much could I...

Fixing it could be at Least $ 75 to $100 and since the lens only sells for about $200 it may not be worth fixing. To sell it broken for parts will yeild you much less money. But if you can sell it and get enough money to keep it out of a landfill then it was worth it.

I purchased a Quantaray Autofocus Lens/Manualfocus lens 28-80mm F3.5-5.6 For Canon AF. Exactly what camera does it work on. I have a Canon Rebel XT 350D and it gives me Err 99 message....so I assume this...

Hard to say without more info.

Is the lens just bought new? If not, it likely is 'chipped' for the Canon AF film cameras. I do not recall if Quantaray rechips their lenses. I believe Sigma does theirs, but not sure about Q~. If you got the paperwork with the lens, contact a repair center or Quantaray.
Contact US1 Photo at 877-300-8070. they are a Quantaray dealer. Ask for the number to the distributor, warranty repair facility and for the number of the quantaray home office. One of them should help you get the right lens.

I have a quantaray lens, 100-300 I used with my 35mm and I also use it on my D70. It broke in half, can it be fixed?

For sure it can be fixed, but depending on what broke it may or may not be worth it.

There is one on ebay right now for about $90 plus $20 shipping. Item number 300356133918.

I don't think you'll be able to get yours fixed for any less than that!

My opinion though, would be to take the $100 you'd spend on that and buy the Nikon 70-300 VR lens that costs about $500.

Nikon Coolpix S550 Lens Error.. Need fix without spending

No, even if you could find a lens for free this is not an easy camera to replace the lens on. Even a qualified tech would take up to an hour to replace. Understand that today's cameras low cost makes replacing the camera a better option than repairing a camera who's value used is less than the repair cost.

Suggestion: Before to spend any money in this direction, try to clean the electric contacts and be sure that batteries are fresh and fully charged (a voltmeter can help).

I would like to know what these do

Bower is brand name skylight is slightly yellow helps soften light there are diffrent densitys. Filter is mostly used to protect orginal glass of lens from dirt smudges scratches & rough treatment. Keep on lens most of the time.

Hyda brand name. PL 3 i believe to be a dark polarizing filter.

Quantaray 1A4 I believe is a haze or skylight filter.
Haze filter does almost the same as a skylight filter.

Hanimex brand name. Polarizing filter used to shoot through reflective glass or surfaces (water), also in color used to sharpen colors. The reason it is turnable is it is light directional beaning light comes through it at a angal hold up to light & turn it you can see how it darkens or litens. Also can stay on lens when not useing skylight filter.

reason you have 2 is one of each for two diffrent lens, 49mm & 55mm.

Hope this helped. Please rate.Thank You.

Quantaray 28-200mm Aspherical IF

Usually.
Quantary Lenses are made by either Sigma or Tamron That lens was usualy made buy sigma. the way to tell is to take it to a camera store that sells 28-200 lenses and hold your lens next to the sigma or tamron. They will look the same just with a different name. one of the main difference's between the store brand quantaray and sigma is that alot of time the metal bearings used in the name brand are replace with plastic ones for the quantaray. I tell you that just so you know why the sigma lenses cost more.

you can also find broken ones on online auction sites and use them for parts.

hope you get it working,
Caleb
