Scroll bar

Most modern laptops with touchpads offer vertical scrolling, horizontal scrolling or both. These features are located along the right-hand and bottom edges of the touchpad, respectively, and are activated when you swipe your finger along the touchpad edge. Scrolling functionality is nearly always enabled by default, but some users find the feature an annoyance and elect to turn it off. In most cases you can simply turn the feature back on using the Windows Control Panel.

Click the Windows Start button, select "Settings," and then click "Control Panel." Double-click the icon labeled "Mouse." Select the Touchpad properties tab. The labeling of this tab varies, depending on your computer manufacturer, operating system version and the device drivers installed on your machine. Common labels include "Touch Pad," "Device Settings" and "Dell Touchpad." If you do not see this option, you may not be able to turn on scrolling for your laptop; skip the remaining steps and refer to the "Warnings" section below. Click the "Settings" button within the Touchpad Properties menu and look for the section labeled "Scrolling Settings" or similar. Enable scrolling within this section and define other scroll settings, such as scroll zone width and scrolling speed. Click "OK" to confirm your changes, and then close the Control Panel windows opened in the previous steps. The scrollbar on your laptop is now enabled.
Scroll Is Not Working With Windows 7 b> Certain computer touchpads have a vertical section on the pad itself that is used to scroll through the page or program window that you are currently viewing on your computer. If the scroll functionality suddenly stops working but the actual touchpad is still fine, this means that the part of the software for the device that controls the ability to use the scroll has been disabled. You can enable it again in the Control Panel.
Click "Start." Click "Control Panel." Click "Mouse." Select the "Enable Scroll" option (or whatever similarly named option is available on your specific model of laptop computer). Click "Apply." The scroll bar on your touchpad will now work again.

Acer Aspire 5102 I've reinstalled win 7 on my acer, and now my touchpad scroll button between left and right buttons don't work.how can i fix that?

Hi! Just head over to this page and select the "Synaptics Pointing Driver" under Drivers and Utilities for Windows Vista. It seems Acer doesnt provide drivers for Windows 7 (possibly because the laptop does not come with it pre-installed) however the Vista ones should work fine. As this is a reinstall, I suggest downloading and installing all the software, at least all of the ones under Drivers and Utilities to ensure that all of your notebook's features function properly.

Scroll pad not scrolling on my vaio e series laptop

The computer model VGN-BX540B is shipped with XP OS. Follow the steps mentioned on below link to check of the scroll function of the touchpad is enabled.

http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C424522

If it is enabled and still the scroll is not working, reinstall the touchpad driver and check: Dowload the touchpad driver from the below link:(XP)

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=VGNBX540B&upd_id=2000&os_id=7

If you have upgraded the OS to Vista, Follow the steps mentioned on below link to check of the scroll function of the touchpad is enabled.

http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C539250

If it is enabled and still the scroll is not working, the issue is most likely to the limitation of the driver which will not work in Vista environment.
At this point what I will suggest is to download and install the Touchpad driver for different model with Vista OS installed in it.

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=VGNBX760&upd_id=2748&os_id=29

As Sony has a model check code for all the drivers, use Universal Extractor to extract the setup file and run it. This will work.

Thanks

Synaptics Touchpad Enhancements stops working

I had this problem on my Dell Inspiron 1318, so I went on to their support centre and through the Chat to a technical advisor tool, they uninstalled and reinstalled the driver which controls the touchpad and now the problem is completely gone. I suggest you contact Acer or the customer service of the company that you bought your laptop from and ask them to do something similar. I didn't even need to send my laptop back, Dell were able to take control of my laptop remotely and it only took about an hour in total. Hopefully your provider will be able to offer a similar service.

You may even be able to do this yourself if you can figure out which touchpad driver you need and look on the Acer/laptop maker website support and look at updates for drivers or downloads or something similar. Personally I found using the company's expertise much easier.

SCROLL DOES NOT WORK

Driver issue I expect. Mine stops every now and then. I expect a driver update or windows update has clobbered it. Try reinstalling the original driver for the touchpad.
