Here are some guidelines to identify and fix your wireless communication issue:
  • What is the status of the Wi-Fi light on the printer? Green light means that it's connected to a wireless network while Orange light means it's not connected to a network.
  • Try to print the printer's wireless network settings to determine if it's connected to your own wireless network. On the printer operator panel, touch the Setup button > Network Setup > Print Setup Page. Your printer will then print the its wireless network information page. Ensure that the printer is connected to your network by checking the Network Card Status, Wireless SSID, Quality or Trouble Code.
  • If printer is not connected to your network, you may need to reset your printer's wireless network settings. On the printer operator panel, press Setup button > Network Setup > Reset Network Settings. The Wi-Fi light on the printer will momentarily turn off then back on to solid orange. You can then run the Wireless Setup Utility application on your computer to reconfigure the printer to connect to your wireless network. On your computer, launch the Lexmark Printer Home application > go to Settings tab > Wireless Setup Utility. Please follow the instructions on your computer screen.

Wi-Fi card can be considered broken only if its not able to scan for any available networks. Also, do check in the device manager of the computer. Check for the device status of this wireless adapter there. If its properly installed, etc., it should say, "This device is working properly". There is also a fix for other error messages. Regarding hardware breakage, we cannot come to a conclusion so easily as we have all these things to check. The case may be little complicated as its an in-built wireless card. We cannot even remove it and try on a different computer.

My built in wireless network adapter is no longer detecting any networks. It is an hp pavilion dv 2500. Is there a way to fix this problem; do I need a new adapter? If so, where can I get one?

The new hp units have a touch switch on the top panel. It should be blue when on, otherwise it is orange/yellow. Just touch the icon to change the status from off to on, then check for networks.

The paragraph below is from the hp website on wireless unit problems:

The power to the wireless network and bluetooth devices is controlled by a switch or button on most computers. It is quite common to accidentally bump the button and turn off the wireless service. On most computers there is an LED light that glows blue when there is a wireless device is turned on and enabled.

Wireless networking hardware not functioning properly.

Check on Device Manager if it is working properly

Right-click My Computer-Properties-Hardware-Device Manager
Click on the plus sign beside Network Adapter and double-click your wireless card.
Check on the device status if it says it's working properly.
Try to disable-enable the adapter by right-clicking on it under the device manager window.
If it has a question mark, it is most likely driver issues so contact your wireless card manufacturer or PC manufacturer if the wireless card is built in.

0) Be sure that your wireless router is working properly

1) Check your wireless card on your computer
See the status of the card
>>My PC>> right click Properties >> Hardware >> Device Manager >> Network

2) Check if your card (if it is PCMCIA Card) was installed correctly, if not installed again.
if you dont have the driver, get the driver of your card from manufacturer website (D-link, etc)

3) If your card is built-in check be sure that the power button is ON

4) Check if you have some or your wireless network available

5) If not renew your ip address

6) If you see the network, select your network and connect.

Let me know how it is going
