Question about Sony Walkman NWZ-S616F MP3 Player

1 Answer

Mp3 not charging when connected to the computer

Since I've reset it, my mp3 player isn't recognized anymore by my computer. I use the same computer and the same usb cable since I've bought my mp3. It turns on when I plug it (and is available in "My Computer") but I can't add anything on it or charge it.

Thank you

Try to reset it if possible.
If the computer charges it then the computer recognizes it as a connected device. That's how usb works. It could be you need a new USB cable. Many devices that use USB for charging do not have the data leads connected in their cables. This is called a "vampire" connection as it only sucks 5 volts DC from the computer/charger .

Vivitar mp3 player isn't recognized by computer

If the MP3 player is not charging through the USB cable when connected to the computer and the computer cannot detect the MPe player then you could have a faulty USB cable. Try a different USB cable.

Hi

Try and reset the player by inserting a pointed object inside the small hole, press and hold for 5-10 seconds to let the player reset. If this doesn't work then connect the player with the computer and let it charge for a while. Now go to control panel-> administrative tools-> computer management/system management-> storage, check if you are able to see the mp3 player here. If it is visible then try a reset and try again. If not then reset the player while it is connected with the system. This will resolve your issue.

Hope this helps...

I cannot get my player to charge.

If the hold/lock is accidentally engaged, the computer will not recognize the player, and the player will not charge - so check that first.

If it is unlocked, then try another USB port on your computer.

If that still fails:
Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.
