My p850 Kodak was dropped. Everything seems to be working except the on button. I'm able to retrieve pictures, etc., but when the button is turned to the on position, nada. It look like it took a direct hit to that area. Any help is appreciated.

P850 is no longer repaired since no longer produced. If under warranty they will exchange you camera to a brand new one.
If not under warranty KODAK offeres a Trade up. You can chose any new model available in stock and receive 25-30% off.
Make sure you have the correct card for the camera you have. This camera Kodak Easyshare P850 requires the following memory card. MultiMediaCard, Secure Digital (SD) Card.
Since this camera is a few years old 5.1 mpxl, it may have a limit on the size of cd card you can use. If you are using a large card, go to a smaller card and see what happens, for instance a 512 meg. card. This camera may have an upgrade for the firmware, and may make it work better. You have to check the Kodak site for such upgrades and info on how to install the upgrade to the firmware. If upgrades for the firmware is available, it will improve some of the features on the camera. Always worth the time to check.
This problem is frequently due to corroded battery terminals inside the
camera. Remove the batteries and wipe the terminals with a soft cloth
(heavy corrosion may require a fine wire brush, steel wool, or
sandpaper). Remove any residue left in the camera by the cleaning.
Clean the terminals on the batteries in the same manner, and then
replace them in the camera. This cures most problems, but if it
doesn't work for you, check the Kodak troubleshooting guide at:
Try using a liquid contact cleaner. I read about this fix on another site, worked great for me. A product called DeoxIT in the U.S. is what was suggested, I am in Canada and can't get that here so I picked up a product from a company called NexxTech. Just a liquid contact cleaner. Take out the battery of the camera. Put a few small drops of the contact cleaner on the power button and let it drip down into the switch. Rotate the on/off switch back and forth 5-10 times, put the battery back in and Voila! Fixed! No more random on/off irritations, camera works just like it did before the problem arose a few weeks ago. It worked great for me. Good Luck!
