Question about Gateway MT6451 Notebook
The monitor just goes out. It displays vertical lines. I've been told it's a bad motherboard please help
Vertical lines can mean either a connector problem on the lcd itself or on the motherboard connector or a problem with video ram or the chip. Unfortunately none of those are cheap or easy to fix. You can try an external monitor and if that displays normally then the problem is connector or lcd. You can sometimes find a replacement display at fair prices so if that is it then it might be worth fixing. If it is the motherboard then the repair can cost as much as a new replacement laptop.
