There are no specs as to what manufacturer was used for the hard came with a 40 gb drive. Below is the spec sheet for the factory setup. I believe if there is a BIOS update for this laptop at the IBM/Lenovo support site, you can put whatever make and model and size drive you want. There is initialization software with all new drives and it will instruct the laptop on how to format and partition the new drive and it is done automatically....

My macbook has a grey screen with a file and question mark

This means it can't find the operating system. Try taking RAM chips out and re-inserting firmly. Also, make sure you got the right kind of RAM chips in the two slots as Macs are picky. Also, make sure you got more RAM memory than you need so the Mac will run super fast. If none of these RAM tricks help, then re-install the operating system by doing an archive and install so you can retain your data. Alternatively, you can take the hard drive out and insert it into an external drive case, then install a new hard drive into the laptop, and do a clean install. Then you can extract the data from the old external hard drive.

Why my skype install not contuniuse in my computer

Easy, maybe your computer does not have the needed RAM (read and write memory). Your harddrive may not be big enough. Just because a problem loads doesn't mean it will run. Verify the RAM & hard drive space required (you may have 1 Meg Ram but it could need 2 Meg Ram, You may have 20Gig Memory Hard-drive but it could use 25G hard drive space. Some newest programs need higher/bigger Ram or hard drives.

C drive is too small and it is full. a norton tech said i need a least 2gb ram if my computer has the capacity.

    Dear Dtrmn2wn,
I am not quite sure about the concern here .. To start with harddisk and RAM are two separate entities .. when you say C drive.. its your harddisk and when you say 2GB RAM.. its the actual RAM or Memory on your computer.
Now to make space on C drive all you need to do is un-install all the unnecessary softwares that might be occupying the space on harddrive .. delete the files that you no more require .. If you have movies or songs sitting on the C drive then move them to external storage or burn them to CD/DVDs .. Delete temporary internet files, cookies. Check "My Documents" and see what stuff you can delete and what can be moved to external media.
That should free up some space on C drive

Now if you want extra RAM then you will have to buy additional RAM cards and will have to insert them in the RAM slots .. Just check with the PC manufacturer on what kind of RAM is compatible and how much can your computer hold.

Hope that helps .. In case you still have additional queries then please feel free to write back and I would be glad to answer you :)

    MSI VR321 WITH 3GB

Kind of like with hard drives the amount shown is never the exactly full amount cause when it comes to hard drive space some of it is taken up for creating the partition.

When it comes to memory some of it is taken up for the system to run, boot up, etc. So as long as its close then everything is fine.

Need to increase hard drive and memory

    Easier said than done...

If you have the specifications of your current memory, you should be able to find higher capacity compatible RAM at any computer or office supply store. If you can find the right kind, then you simply need to buy it and put it in. Older and more rare types you may need to order via internet.

Upgrading the hard drive can be a tough process. Some drives used to come with upgrading software right on the drive (like Maxtor for example) but they don't seem to do that any more. So, besides buying the right type (either PATA or SATA connector) drive, and the size you want, you have to check your system specs to see how large a drive you can put in, older systems are limited. In addition, you would need to buy hard drive duplicating software, like Powerquest Drive Image.

To see the process of upgrading a drive, I found a page for you, as the details are quite extensive...

Seagate 160GB SATA Hard Drive Installation.

Hi, Was the original 20Gb HD also a SATA or was it installed as an IDE? Try installing a fresh clean Windows rather than the restore disc. However, you will need the drivers for the SATA 160Gb and press F6 when Windows installers ask you to. Post back how things turn up or should you need further information. Hope this be of some idea/help. Good luck and kind regards.
