HOW TO REMOVE DRUM ERROR IN BROTHER HL2140 PRINTER

Need to replace drum and reset the counter

(Essentially the cartridge/drum unit should not be in the printer when you reset it)

1) Open front door
2) Remove the cartridge/drum unit
3) Hold down front button until all lights come on
4) Put cartridge/drum unit back in
5) Close the front door

The Drum life should be reset.

Print want print

If you recently purchased it, just put it back in the box and take it back to the store for a replacement. I wouldn't bother tryng to fix it if you can get a brand new one that works the way it's supposed to.

HL2140 - DRUM REPLACED APPROX 3 WEEKS AGO, LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON

When you replace a drum in a brother machine you have to tell the machine it's a new drum. The instructions are on a sheet packed with the new drum. With the front door open you hold the panel button until all the lights flash on, then close the door and you're ready to print.

Yeah, I have the HL-5250DN printer. The light

Hi there -

The reason the drum light keeps flashing is that you have to "reset" the machine after you've installed a new drum. To do this, I believe all you have to do is make sure the printer is on and then push and hold down the "GO" button a few seconds and then the flashing will stop. This will "reset" the printer to recognize you've installed a new drum. I'm going from memory on that, but I believe that's correct. It's a really simple solution. Good luck!

Drum

Try this to rest the drum counter.

After installing a new drum unit the drum counter must be reset. Use
the following steps:
1. Printer must be powered on.

2. Press the cover release button and open the front cover.

3. Press and hold the Go button until all four lights are on solid.
Release the Go button.

4. Close the front cover.

5. The drum light will now be off.

Brother HL-5240 drum light flashing

Normally clearing the drum count the machine has to be on open front cover as if to change the drum press and hold the button in for about 10 second then release and shut the door. This should reset the count if not please get back to me and I'll check the service manual to see if anything in that.

Thanks J
