My Sears Kenmore Built-in Dishwasher Model # 587.15149403 gets stuck about 1/2 way thru the Light Wash cycle and runs for 3 or more hours. I used to start before I went to bed so it ran at night when it is cooler. But, one night it ran all night. I found the dial seems to get stuck about 1/2 in the area that says ''Light Wash'' and I have to turn the dial just a little to get it past that spot. After that it works fine. The dishwasher was purchased in July 2008. Where should I start first

I had the same problem and just today replaced the control board module. Purchased the control module online and installed in myself. Was not that difficult. undo the screws (torx screw driver needed) unhook the connections to the board and label all. Pull the board out and open, found burned connectors. Now works like a dream.

Hi jabberr216,
I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.
Your question is: You have an older model Kenmore ultra wash dishwasher model #15805890. The control lock light is flashing. No buttons are working. The dishwasher does not turn on. Any solutions?
Sure! Someone must have activated the lock. It is next to either the 'air dry' or 'heated dry' button.
Press and hold that button till the lock light goes out. About 6 seconds. That's it. It turns on the same way.

The sequence of "Press Heated Dry, press Normal Wash, then press Heated Dry again and press Normal Wash again (that's 4 button-presses)" worked for us. Many thanks!

Is the clean light blinking 7 times? If so this means you have a problem with your heating element
SOURCE: Dishwasher will not go thru wash cycles
if the water is not draining at all in any of the cycle it is probably the discharged line at the bottom of the pump has become blocked. there is an access panel at the bottom of the dishwasher which will allow you access the line. take the line off of the fitting , use a set of vise grips to remove the fitting from the base of the pump. You will probably find corn or rice lodged in the diaphragm within the fitting, remove debris and reinsert the fitting and hose. Hopefully this is helpful to you.
