cable box needs connected to the antenna in on the vcr..the setup is ..cable box..vcr combo ..tv ..unless your tv has multiple inputs like ours..most of the new ones require a digital signal..it may reqiure a converter box..
If I understand your request right, You do not have cable or satellite box.
You can not record from your TV. You use the TV as a monitor from the dvd/vcr combo box. What the box receives is what shows on the TV. So you will have to have a digital convertor hooked to the (antenna in) dvd/vcr combo box, (antenna out to the tv antenna in) Depending on the antenna you are using that is on the other end of your cable-in coax connection this will hook to your antenna in on the digital convertor box. If your cable is hooked up and operating correctly and directly to the tv that is digital ready you probabbly have a good picture. When the vhf/uhf signal was transmitted you could go from the dvd/vcr to the tv with no problem. But now that the signal is digital and the tv is set for digital the dvd/vcr will not pass a digital signal to the tv. Best suggestion, you have to get a digital dvd/vcr receiver. Without the Panasonic remote you can not get to those features to program these sets. I have included a link to purchase a replacement remote control. They aren't expensive and much easier to use than a universal remote. Please take a moment to rate my answer. Thanks...
To change between cable and antenna on your TV, Press Home to display the "XMB" menu. pick "settings" on the menu then pick "channel" on the next menu under channel settings, select "on" for cable and "off" for antenna TV.
have cable attached to the TV. But, I lost my remote so I cannot change the TV setting from "antenna" to "cable." There is no menu selection on the TV itself. Is there any way to do this?
if you have a cable box, just put the tv on channel 3,or a aux input.[depending on your hook up] if it's cable without a box,go to the menu setup screen on the tv look for a air/cable setting, choose cable. then do a auto program search.

If you are able to you can connect to the RF connector (F Type Conncetor) on the TV. This should work.
The layout is from the VCR (RF to TV) to the TV antenna F type connector from your Cable box to the Antenna in of the VCR that way you have cable through the VCR, and access to you VCR and DVD all controlled by the Cable and VCR remotes (set TV to Channel 3, set VCR to Channel 3) and use the Cable box as the tuner, Use the TV remote to switch between Cable and VCR inputs then use the VCR remote to switch between the VCR and DVD input.
Check first the antenna using another TV. If there is no other TV available, check using an ohmeter. If you are 100% sure tha the antenna is ok then the antenna connector on your Tv is not making a good connection to the antenna plug.
