Question about Garden

1 Answer

I have a Toro LX 420 rider. When I turn the key I get a click which comes from under the seat where the battery and solenoid are. I have replaced the battery and solenoid to no avail. I guess the only part to replace is the starter. Any ideas.

Toro lx 420 wont start, sounds like starter wont engage jst a clicking sound. I put a new battery and solenoid in and still the same

Double check the cables and wiring as there may be a loose connection or a corroded cable causing voltage drop .

I asked a question about a toro riding mower but it was placed in the cars and trucks catagory

Depends if it is the starter solenoid that is clicking or the fuel solenoid. If it the starter and clicks try jumping the two large posts with a screwdriver that you don't mind damaging. If the starter now turns then it is the solenoid if not then it is starter. If the starter doesn't click then it can be a safety or ignition switch problem.

Toro timecutter won't turn over with key

Sounds like the solenoid is bad. Most solenoids connect positive + from the battery. One side will read 12 volts (with the black wire of a test meter or test light. (The side connected to the battery). Energize the solenoid (loud click) And with the key held, check the other side for voltage. No voltage, bad solenoid. Be careful when you buy a replacement. Many look the same but do different things.

I have 1995 toro ridding mower.i got it not working an the battery was not charging so i got a new battery an ones i hooked it up every thing work bu did not start an it just makes a clicking noise when i...

Test the battery with a volt/ohmn meter to ensure it reads at least 12-14 volts. Check all the safety switches located underneath the seat & the mower deck engage handle is disengaged. Check all battery wire connections are soldi, not corroded. Check wiring on starter solenoid from battery & to key switch.

I have a Toro LX 420. Bought in 2006. Put a new battery in and I get a click sound under the seat where the battery and solenoid are when I turn the key. Is it the solenoid or the starter?

Most likely it is the solenoid especially if the battery is new but the only sure way to tell is to test the battery with a volt meter for 12 volts or more or use a HEAVY jumper wire and cross the two large posts on the solenoid. If it cranks when you cross them, replace the solenoid. don't hold the wire on too long, it will get hot and melt the insulation
