Sounds like a bad capacitor. if you can spin the fan blade and it starts turning on its own and every 30 45 sec the compressor sounds like the compressor is trying to start you will need to replace the capacitor. if you remove the panel to expose the electrical controls. the capacitor is the large round canistor looking device. its rating will be stamped on the side, its probably a dual cap if both the fan and compressor arent starting in which case it will have three posts on top and the value will be listed like this 45-5-370or440 that would be 45uf for the compressor 5uf for the fan and 370 or 440 volt. on the top of the cap you will see C,FAN, and HERM, you must make sure the wires go back on the new just like on the old you also must make sure you capacitor rating of the new cap is the same rating as the old. post with more info or other observations and i will continue to help you if you need

Home furnace comfortmaker blowing cold air

Home owner's manual? Troubleshooting section. Gas or electric?
If gas, pilot light may be out, or other gas controls. Are you sure you have gas supply? Do you have other Gas appliances so you can check? Furnace needs power for controls, fan and thermostat. Are you sure you have electric power to the furnace? Does the thermostat have a fan switch? If so turn it on and see if the fan turns on. If it does not turn on you may have a circut breaker poped. or some other reason power to the furnace is not working.

Is this a 1or 2stage compressor

I don't know specifically..but just about anything with a 16 seer is going to have a two speed compressor combined with a variable speed blower in the furnace. Some utilize 'inverter technology' and utilize a variable speed compressor to deliver ultra- high ratings. Though available for residential use, they show up mainly in systems used in commercial applications. Daiken, Sanyo, Mitsubishi to name a few...and are usually ductless split systems.

I guess this answer really is of no help.....

"Comfortmaker " brand air conditioning

I did some research and this sounds like it could be a capacitor issue. Go to the back of your outside unit and look inside the access panel with the electrical warning sticker on it, if the capacitor is bowed up at the top, it needs to be replaced. If it turns out to be the capacitor, follow this link for a new capacitor replacement kit, it will save you hundreds of more dollars than calling an HVAC repair company to charge you an arm and a leg. The kit also comes with the proper tools and parts needed as well as detailed instructions on how to replace the part yourself.
I hope this helps!

I have a SubZero 690. Freezer is not working at all, Refrigerator is fine! Two different compressors or refrigertion units?

Hi, and no, you have only one compressor for this unit.It sounds as though your defrost timer is not working on the evaporator, stuck in the defrost cycle, and this is why its not freezing. It could be several different reasons the freezer stopped working. Check the fan in the freezer to see if its running. The defrost timer should be located behind the unit at the lower section. If this unit has a panel that is removable, you can take it off to find the timer and take a flat head screw driver to see if you can give it a 1/4 turn, as it may be stuck in defrost. While you are there, you will see the compressor, condenser fan motor, and condenser coil also. Clean this coil while your there and make sure the fan is up and running. If its not running, but the compressor is, the motor has failed. Take these steps and let me know the outcome.

Compressor not working

This is such a vague problem you are describing. Could be a number of things. However, I can give you some advice to help determine if its the compressor or not. Typically when compressors are not running, even though they are suppose to be, you can hear a "click" sound come from bottom back area of fridge. This "click" sound may be preceeded by a few second long hum or buzz, or it may just be a click every couple of minutes. If you hear that then you know the compressor is trying to run, but isnt. Also, make sure that when you open the freezer door you can hear the evaporator fan running. If that fan is not running, but the compressor is, then you have bad evap fan.

My refrigerator growls. It sounds as if there is a bear in there

It could be a fan motor growling, isolate the sound from freezer or refrig or the back. or during some refrigeration cycles the freon surging can also sound like water gushing or growling usually at start up though. The fans can be vibrating, hitting or going fast to slow dc motors.

Fridge/freezer warm, water puddling underneath

Hi, clicking sound from compressor, means compressor not running (working) compressor overlay relay is what making that clicking sound, possible your compressor have a hard start, you can purchase compressor ( hard start kit ) from appliance store, your fans could be working, but compressor short cycling, you said fan not working? which one inside of ref, or one near to compressor, check fan, remove 2 wires from fan terminal, use ohm tester, place tester lead one on each fan terminal, if you get a beep sound (continuity) fan is o/k, if not, fan burnt out, replace fan, now if compressor is good, fans are good, then check or replace, defrost timer, but before doing any repairs, unplug ref, excessive water is because ref defrosting, because there's no refrigeration, remove your produce, leave ref. off for about an hour, then replug it, let it work for about another hour, then check to see if temp. dropping (colder) maybe you experiencing, low voltage, let me know what happened, then i can tell you exactly, what's the problem. good luck.
