Go to the control Panel > Device Manager > scroll to drives, right click on "A" drive and disable it. You can also go into the computers BIOS settings....usually the Delete key when you see the manufacturers splash screen on boot up. When you are in the BIOS, go to the computer peripherals and disable the A drive if it is listed. Hit F10 and reboot.

Have a look in your BIOS settings.
When you first boot you should see a message like press Del to enter setup. It could be another key like F2 or something.

In any case when you get in there you will have to dig around a bit as all pc's have these opetions in different places. You should be able to find an option to disable the floppy controller or mark it as not installed. You will probably find that it is set to automatically detect at the moment.

Just save your settings on the way out.

If you can't find it have a look through *********** board manual. It will describe where to find the settings. If you can't find your manual you should be able to find it online. Otherwise post again here with the exact model of your computer or mother board and perhaps someone else here will help.

Hope this helps

Need to go into the bios and disable seek floppy drive. I believe on a Dell machine hitting the F2 key as soon as you start to boot grts you to the bios.

My dell dimension 9200 is booting and then giving me a Floppy Diskette Seek Failure message. What is causing this to appear and not boot windows 7?

Hi. You computer seems to be booting up using the floppy disk and your floppy disk drive might not be connected properly, not working or not even there. Press F2 to run the setup utility and disable the floppy seek in the bios. It will most likely be in the "Advanced CMOS setup" area, or the 2nd screen depending on your bios. look for "Seek floppy drive at boot?" or, "Disable floppy seek at boot?" or something like that. When you find it, make sure it's not enabled for the seek. Save the change on exiting. :-)

Hi, When I try to start my Dimemsion 5150C in Windows XP computer, I received one of the following error messages "Floppy diskette seek failure Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup...

The "floppy" disk-drive (3.5-inch diskette) on your computer is broken.
Press F1 to ignore the error, and to boot from your C: drive.
Or, press F2 to enter BIOS SETUP, and then navigate through those "setup" screens to tell the computer to "disable floppy seek", or change the setting from "3.5 1.44Mb drive" to "none".
Or, take the computer to a technician, and buy a replacement disk-drive, and get it installed.
