Just a suggestion, if you had another printer connected before this one - or the default printer is still set as default - when you click, ' Print' you'll need to select your HP 1315 as the printer you want to use to print your document.

To connect your PSC 1317 printer you need to install the software onto your computer and as you did not provide me with the operating system I will provide you a weblink from were you need to navigate to the exact operating system and follow the onscreen instructions.
If I understand your correctly, the printer icon (in the printer folder) shows offline under it as a status. If yes.
This solution only works for USB connected printers. And I am sure that the printer is connected to the computer via USB cable (As it is PSC 1350).
Cause: You might disconnect and reconnect the printer multiple times or some of the print jobs struck in the queue. As a result it shows offline.
However, the easiest solution is just Right click on the printer icon and select "Use Printer online". Then refresh the Printer folder and check the status.
If the issue persist, then try to download the print diagnostic utility from the HP website and try to install in on your computer after that, run the utility to diagnose the printer software.
Once you download & Install the utility on your computer, it will create a Print Diagnostic Utility icon on your computer desktop or it will be listed in All Programs.
Double click on the Print Diagnostic Utility icon to open it. Then select the appropriate printer and then click on "Diagnose" button, this will diagnose and provide you the list of issues with a Red X mark, just click on FIX button to fix the issues.
Once it is done, click on "Print a test page" in the utility window to check the functionality.
In addition to providing information about current tasks, the lights on the front panel can also indicate error conditions, as described in the table below: If the On light, Check Print Cartridge light, Check Paper light, and Start Copy, Black and Start Copy, Color lights are all flashing, do the following: 1 Verify that the front-panel overlay is attached to the HPPSC. 2 Turn your HPPSC off and on by disconnecting the power cord and reconnecting.
Alternatively,
All ights blinking: An error caused the HPPSC to stop functioning. 1 Turn the HPPSC off and then on. 2 Restart your computer. 3 If the problem is not corrected, unplug the HPPSC and plug it in again. If the problem persists, contact HP.
I have an F340 HP all-in -one and the work arouind for me is to go into paint program and click "FILE" scroll down to from "SCANNER/CAMERA" and click scanner then save file.Windows Vista does NOT recognise the scan button on the actual printer ..I got this from the HP website cause I had same issue -- perhaps this will work you ..If not try going to their software support...enter your product and see if they have solution available for your printer model if this doesn't work for you....
First check the printer icon. ( Make sure the printer is turned on during this process) Go to Start Control Panel Go to Hardware and sounds Go to printers.
And check that the printer PSC 1317 has a check mark. If not right click on the same and left click on Set printer as default. Next make sure the printer icon says 0Ready.
If not right click on top of the PSC 1317 icon and left click on Clear all documents (untill it says 0ready) If it still does not say 0Ready. Then Go to Start Then Run(if not where you see start search Type there as Run and hit enter in the run Box type services.msc and click Ok
Now in the services window Scroll down an locate for Print Spooler and double click on the same Now under Services status If Start is highlighted Cliick on start ( now a small window will poppup and close) If Stop is highlighted then click on stop ( A small window will popup and close, Now you will see start highlighted Click on start and then either click on apply or ok close all the windows and restart your computer. Now First Go to Start Control Panel Go to Hardware and sounds Go to printers. And check that the printer C3180 has a check mark and if it says 0Ready.
If yes Right click on the same icon and left click on Properties. Now in this window towards the bottom right you will see a tab which says print test pageClick on it to see if it prints a test page. If yes then Try to print a document.
If non of this works Go to Start Control Panel (or setup then contro panel) and then go to Printer and faxes (or printers and other hardware) And deleted any or all the icon which says PSC 1317
If it is not deleting then right click on the same icon and lecft click on cancel all documents Then unplug the USB cable which is connected to the printer end and leave it unplugged for atleast 1Mins before reconnecting (In the meantime reboot your computer) After rebooting the computer connect the USB cord to the Computer it should install the printer diriver on its own (if it prompts the CD then insert the Cd if you have it handy) it may take some time to install the prnter driver Then Go to Start Control Panel Go to Hardware and sounds Go to printers. then PSC 1317 See.if it says 0ReadyRight click on the same icon and left click on Properties Now in this window towards the bottom right you will see a tab which says print test pageClick on it to see if it prints a test page then try printing any document or Email.
