I know how to use the allen wrench to tighten the unit that holds the needle but how do i secure the small bent wire that guides the thread just above the needle

Machine froze. Screen said check if needle bent - nope- or see if thread entangled -took thread and bobbin out. Still jammed. Help?

Messages about safe device activated & press the needle position button

The noise is because the machine is trying to raise or lower a needle and can't move. Several things to check. Did the needle break and jam in the bottom thread? Is the needle bent or jam? Did the thread jam in the bobbin area? I had a 'knot' of thread build up on the bottom and it hooked itself into the metal clip on the bobbin so that the needle couldn't raise. If thread jams in the bottom carefully cut the threads until you can free the hoop and material. Then check to make sure all pieces of thread and fuzz has been removed in the bobbin case. If it happens again check to see if the bobbin case or the throat plate is scratched or bent. If you are stitching Free Standing Lace on this machine or a piece with over 20,000 stitches I recommend starting with a new full bobbin and a new needle. As you get toward the bottom of the bobbin, thread seems to have a high likelihood of tangling or looping.

Seems to be out of sync. makes a knocking sound, not catching bobbin thread.

Is the needle in facing the right way? Flat shank to the back.

The knocking sound could be your needle is bent too, have you just had a threading jam up?

I'd remove the needle plate and bobbin and threads, clean everything and oil, put in a new needle, then slowly move the flywheel manually and watch the needle action to see if you can identify where the knocking noise is coming from.

Failing that, I'd say the timing is out, take it to a serviceman. The thread's not locking is usually a good indication of this fault.

I just had this serviced and I embroidered a few items, I thought that it sounded a little loud. all of a sudden the needle broke. I took the bobbin out and there are scratches on the bobbin shuttle, and...

I would take it back and tell them to fix it right. Was it an authorized service center? If, it was there should be no question. As long as you had your needle inserted right, I don't see how it could be your fault.

For the price of them - try buying both, then buy more of the one that works best.

Brother 2003D jammed

i am not familiar with the brother safety device myself. however things i would check might be to first check the manual for the machine. if not available try to turn the machine off if it is electronic in hope that it would reset itself. i would also totally unthread the machine and change the needle. embroidery machines need to have needles changed more often due to their high speeds. What type of fabric were you sewing on? Some of the newer machines are just not made to sew on very heavy fabrics and this might be causing something in side to spring. Try to stitch on a lighter fabric with a stabilizer under it

The safety device has been activated.

It is under warantee for 12 months, so I would recommend you phone the dealer to arrange for them to have a look at it.....if you have any samples of sewing, take them too.
