Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

Hi, recomendations for a decent book on UK household electrics

I'm an avid, very competent DIYer and am after a decent book explaining household domestic electrical systems in particular lighting circuits & diagrams. It also needs to explain the current regs in terms a normal person can understand pointing out in particular how the law has changed for installations/certificates/what circuits/appliances have got to be on RCD's etc.
Any advice on suitable publications would be great. Many thanks in anticipation of your help.

SOURCE: My Bosch Classixx 1200 washer causes the household RCD to trip

The first thing I would recommend u do is to remove the motor and check the carbons for wear, Their should be at least 3mm of carbon showing, any less then u shud replace.
The other possibility is a faulty heater element, u cud try it with the element disconnected, if it does not trip then the element is faulty.
Plz rate my solution.

It sounds like you really would like to start repairng cars, and maybe take up being a mechanic for a living....

Check into your local Techincal College for classes..and some high schools that still offer tech classes for cars will teach the students using your pay for the parts..they get the knowlwedge/education, and everybody wins.

Good luck, and Happy New Year

Won't heat

Maybe the heating element has gone. Replacement ones should be available. Not too difficult to replace and any competent DIYer should be able to do it if the engineers prices are too high.

DIYer? I recommend a repair manual from your auto parts store. It should provide a complete list of all error codes and likely repair methods. Otherwise find a competent repair shop, or your dealer. I googled your error code This is just one of the answers:
I am sure you can do a better search since you know far more about the issues.

Ignition light stays on ,i disconnected bat for 15 min but still comes on

Stop by a auto parts store, they may read the error code and tell you the needed fix if you are DIYer. Otherwise, see a dealer, or competent repair shop.

You can use the attached website to get information on your dryer. You will need your make, model, and serial number. You should be able to find a video to help you understand how your dryer heating system works and what parts could be causing the problem. This can be a very technical repair. Do Not Attempt if you are not an avid DIYer or able to understand the directions for the repair. It can be very dangerous if you don't correctly complete this repair.

Wiring/connecting wire from fan to home ceiling

this depends on where you live UK/USA et,c or other.
It is best to search the manufacturers site, to find installation codes/colours.
i.e USA use a lot Of Black and white. UK uses Red/Black Green/yellow.
And on houses that are rewired to 17th edition electrics ( UK ) the colours have now changed on mains twin and earth household Wiring. What Used to Be Red ( Live ) Is Now Brown. Black ( Nuetral ) Is now Blue. green/yellow is earth.

*** Important Note:- you should have several reds in a ceiling junction box or light fitting, these are circuit wires. ( Live From Light to next light ) The same as with Black ( Nuetral )
There will usually be 1 switch wire/Cable. this feeds a live from the switch, to the live power up to the light. many homes use a twin core and earth, from the light switch to the fitting. this may be black ( if a black/red ) has been used. *** Do not connect a black Switch wire with the remaining neutrals***
This will blow a fuse or trip a breaker.

Your solution:- connect the black neutral To the Black neutral cables ( more Than 1 at the ceiling Rose/fitting ) if there is a green/yellow or green ( this will be earth ) You may have 2 remaining Colours Possibly red and Blue or other. The Red Should be the switched Live. ( the single cable Red/Black with red tape around It ) This will be the switched Live. The remaining cable would probably be connected to the Bunch of Reds ( Constant Live ) As ceiling fans require a constant and switched live ( if the fan has lighting )

If in any doubt, consult a qualified or competant Electrician. *****And always remove or isolate the mains supply before attempting any installation*****. After the wiring is complete replace the fuse or switch on the breaker, to test your installation.

This information, is supplied by a fully competant electrician.

Thankyou for using fixya.

On-line training

I think the software has been discontinued by Sony. Sony came out with another product line that competes with Avid/Pinnacle Systems, and Adobe called Vegas Movie Studio. It's more of a professional video editing system but has starter options as well so that later more features can be added for professional video editing such as chroma key and audio editing.

Image Mixer was creating videos in MPEG1 format while most video editing systems create MPEG2 and/or MPEG4 which are better quality formats to work with DVDS, IPods, and You Tube.

Vegas does have manuals available at book stores to support further training as well.
